I wanted to replace my old thermostat because the light burned out. This model looks good and did control the heat pump well enough, but it was +4 degrees off. If the room was 76, the unit thought and displayed that it was 80. I called the 800 number the next day to find out if it had an adjustment inside where I could calibrate it. A guy in India told me there wasn’t. He explained how the unit takes an average between the radiant and ambient temperatures around it and that they consider +/-3 degrees of inaccuracy to be within their quality tolerance. Well, it’s not within mine. I have mercury thermometers that came attached to free desk calendars that are accurate to the exact degree. I think Honeywell should be able to do as well for $40. They claim the device precisely controls temperature to within +/-1 degree, but what good is that when the unit thinks it is 4 degrees warmer than it really is? How do you set desired house temperature given that much margin of error? And who wants a thermostat that never displays the correct temperature? I returned mine today for refund and have decided to live with the burned out light on my old one. The worst part of the whole thing was having to waste the time uninstalling the old one, installing the new one, then uninstalling the new one and re-installing the old one, not to mention having to make a special trip back to the store. I am not happy. I considered exchanging it for another unit of the same model because they probably aren't all as inaccurate as the one I got. I just didn't want to chance having to do another back and forth to the store in case I was wrong. If you are going to take a chance and get one of these, put two AA batteries in it and set it on a table away from any temperature influencing sources like AC/Heat draft, sun or heat generating appliances and compare it after 45 minutes to a known good thermometer to see how accurate it is before you install it on the wall and wire it. I didn’t do this because I thought that since it’s a Honeywell it had to be right. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

Old programmable thermostat was failing and also too complicated. We simply did not need a programmable one. This was perfect, and simple, for our needs. I had previously purchased the Honeywell cheaper LED (model RTH111B) readout one but couldn't read it in the dark hallway where our thermostat is located so returned it and bought this one. It lights up well when you push any of the buttons. Very happy. Also, regardless of what the wiring instructions say, I would still call Honeywell tech support and confirm the wiring and settings just to be sure. They seemed to be very competent.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sandy Simple to install and easy to use
We keep our thermostat set on the same temperature most all the time and don't need a fancy programmable model. The Honeywell is well-designed, easy to read and simple to operate. We would recommend this model for anyone who doesn't want or need to be fiddling with the temperature setting constantly.

It works great but had to make a few phones calls to verify the wiring from an different product that was installed prior. The people I spoke with was out of the United States and the English was a little hard to understand. But got through it.
