Product Overview

Put an end to desert-like air in your home. The average humidity in the Sahara Desert is 25%. In wintertime, the average humidity inside some homes can be even lower, leading to dry skin, "carpet shock", cracking woodwork and more. Reliable Honeywell Whole House Humidifiers work with your home's heating and cooling system to maintain a proper, comfortable humidity level throughout the home. They will save you money by allowing you to turn down your thermostat a few degrees because humid air feels warmer. Plus, you don't have the hassle of refilling the unit like you do with portable humidifiers.

Customer Questions & Answers

Where on the duct work do you install a whole house Honeywell humifier?

And where do you put the Honeywell humidity controller?
Asked by: Anonymous
It can be installed on either the out or the return side of the ductwork, you want it close to the furnace for even distribution.

What is the nominal water output per day & for what house area, for the HE120A1010?

I can't find the output (gals per day, for say 2000 sq ft home ) anywhere in the specs section, for this Honeywell Drum Whole House Humidifier. The water vapor output says `YES ' ????
Asked by: Anonymous
It would be difficult to measure the water as it is an auto feed system. I can say it changed my 1700 sq ft townhouse from 35 to 45% overnight.

It works with any system that has hot and return duct work. The unit requires approximately a 12x12 inch cutout with 3 inches above and 8 inches below clearance.

Does this unit absolutely need a drain?

i have a floor drain a bit away from the furnace,, could use but would be inconvenient.
Asked by: Kodiesmom
No but the unit should have a flow of water continuosly trickling through to flush out minerals, in which case a drain would be helpful.

Customer Reviews

Drum Whole House Humidifier is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 53.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product represents the downfall of Honeywell A company which used to be the first and last name in home appliances like humidifiers has fallen a long way. I guess somewhere along the line, someone said "hey, everyone trusts us to make the best products! So we can churn out terrible products and people will just assume they're good!" And nobody argued. This product does not come with everything in the box which you need to complete the project. The company no longer supports the product, providing no replacement parts or customer service. Their only recommendation to me, was "return it to the store and purchase another humidifier." I will take their advice, but I will not be replacing this product with another Honeywell product. I owned this Honeywell product for two weeks, and that is the longest that I will ever own any Honeywell product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy install, humidity output seems low I bought this unit to replace an existing obsolete unit they always needed parts that were hard to find. Installation was OK. It needed larger openings than the older unit which was good. After installation, even with it set to max, humidity output is low. It warns about setting it to high and causing Windows to fog, but I can't make that happen even at 5 degrees F. outside. There is a large gap between the drum and the case, so I suspect that most of the air is just bypassing the water instead of being humidified.

This humidifier was easy to install because I could configure it exactly like the unit it replaced, which had rusted out. I did need to open up the hole in the ductwork a bit in order to set this into the ductwork correctly. The motor is silent and the housing is plastic, so rust shouldn't be an issue. It came with everything you could possibly need to install it. (Well, it didn't come with tin snips, drill & drill bits, but I had those)

Super easy install but you might need a longer duct. The one supplied was too short for my installation. But overall, about an hour to install. The hardest part is the cutting of the ductwork with tin snips. Some reviews said it did not raise the humidity enough. If this happens, let your furnace fan run constantly to circulate and run the humidifier.

The unit works fine but the float valve has a slow leak and after several attempts with tech support to get an English speaker I finally gave up and went and bought another one, used that float valve, and returned the whole thing. Completely ridiculous.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cheaply made On top of being cheaply made the motor makes anoying intermittent buzzing sound that will drive you crazy at night! The sound travels through the air ducts! If I had to buy another unit I'd pick a different one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just awful. Started out great. Then had a standing water & mold. This doesn't work. Maybe because we have hard water and that caused issues...Either way. Now we have a useless thing attached to our furnace.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Humidifier Highly recommend this humidifier to be added to a central home heating system. Had replaced old system and wanted new humidifier to go with it. Very good features and easy install.
