Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by FreshAirForBetterLiving If breathing "Clean Air" is the main purpose...then this is it!
I can't understand why people complain about "noise" for an appliance that was built with the main purpose of moving volumes of air in order to clean & filter the dust, mold, pollen, bacteria, etc., that cause serious allergies.
For my purpose, the rash breakouts & sinus issues have definitely subsided, and my quality of living has improved. The low setting creates a white noise that's easy to fall asleep to...at least for me. Yes, the higher settings do create noise that may not be ideal for sleeping, but then again a setting like "power clean" is to do just that...clean the air with serious intent!
Yes, there are probably other "quieter" models there, but then again they are also much more expensive ($300-$500). The bottom line is that this product has cleaned the air in my home, and has solved my allergy issues for a better quality of life.
Good luck with your quest for better living...

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SteveG Best Air Cleaner for combined capabiliites for the price
We are well pleased with this unit after almost a month.
My son (with Asthma and allergy / breathing problems in the pollen season) sleeps better now, as does the rest of the family. Also, I no longer hear sneezing from most family members after being in the house for a few hours. Our house is now our family's "clean breathing zone'
We selected this model for the following features:
1. Amount of air to get into and out of the unit.
This unit has a large drum motor with a large "squirrel cage" surrounding the motor to do the job of moving the air in and out of the unit. I disassembled sever units in many stores to get to and see the motor and how the air is moved by the motor. Almost all use a "squirrel cage" type of system. The large slim units use several (up to 3 stacked vertically) but are all very small. Physics tells me one large "squirrel cage" moves more air than even 3 very small ones.
2. Type of filter and cleaning/replacement requirements.
Most air cleaners use (r at least claim to use) Hepa filters. This one does, but uses a pre-filter as well. The pre-filter can be cleaned. This saves from replacing an expensive HEPA air filter ever 30-90 days
On quiet mode the unit is barely discernible in my usually quiet house. If you live in a sound-proofed house, you may notice the slight hum in quiet mode.
This unit is large enough to do a good job quickly, and small enough to be portable - facilitating a move to another room.
This unit's capabilities far outweigh the cost.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by draftmgd30 No more next day food smells!!
This $139.00 Honeywell Air Purifier was set up and ready to use within 5 minutes. Operation is very quiet, and it can be set to low-medium-high speeds depending on your needs. Our filter is kept on top of the refrigerator where it is out of our way when cooking, but still close enough to absorb the odors. We generally turn ours on when we begin cooking, and it keeps those nasty cooked food smells from permeating the entire house. I highly recommend this filter to anyone looking for a great Hepa Filter for a medium size room!

I just purchased two air purifiers for me & my husbands one bedroom apartment. I got this one for our bedroom. I had childhood asthma really bad and it's came back to visit me 10 years later. I have 3 cats and this has made such a difference over the weekend. It's a little loud, but it's okay, no more than a fan on high. We leave it running on power mode (highest) 24/7. We also purchased a bigger one (50255-HD) for the main area of our apartment.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dawn I love it!
I've had it about a month now, and it works fantastic! I cleaned the room top to bottom, put the purifier on POWER (the highest setting) and within two hours the room smelled like it did when we first put up new wood moldings! I was amazed at how well it worked. If you follow the directions and close the door to the room, with the windows closed, its remarkable. I've had no issues with the floor being 'dirty' around it, nor is it a problem sleeping with it running. It has a quiet setting which is no more than the whisper of a fan running.....my son likes the 'white noise' so I can keep it on the medium setting and it doesn't affect his sleep. Its also kept the dust in the room down to almost nothing. I feel my son's perpetual stuffy nose is GONE! I want to get another one for another room....very happy with it

bought this for my bedroom with wood floors cause i have allergies and because the GF has asthma and complained about itchy skin and rashes...i live in an older rental and im pretty sure there is a mold issue as well....the air is quality in my bedroom is noticeably cleaner and most of my stuffy nose issues have subsided...although the pollen count this year has been outrageous this unit is helping! i keep it on 24 hours a day and the quiet setting is great for sleeping.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MrsRKA After being diagnosed with allergy and asthma this summer I bought this for our bedroom. It works great. My bedroom is the only house where I can breathe when my asthma is acting up. I need to get them for all over the house.
It is a little noisy, but worth it for me to breathe.

We bought this for my son's room for his allergies. Our doctor recommended this model. In a day we couldn't believe how noticeably clean his room smelled. We decided to buy another one and we will buy more over time for other rooms. He is able to get a good nights sleep in an allergy free room. His sinus trouble is under control now. The filter gets full. We found we can vacuum it out.
