Today I am reviewing the new Hoover Air Cordless Series 3.0 Upright Vacuum with Lithiumlife Batteries! My Vacuum arrived in a gorgeous box. Elegantly designed and packaged well to protect the vacuum. I cracked open the box and took out all the parts. The vacuum assembled quickly. I put the battery on charge to make sure it was ready to go. (please see pictures). I turned it on! Immediately it was ready to clean my floors and carpets. I ran the vac through my living room and felt that the carpet was totally clean! Honestly, I thought my carpets were clean with my other vacuum, however, I immediately found that my other vac was not doing its job. In a few passes, I had to dump the canister. I started back on the carpet for more passes. Again, I had to dump the canister. This is not a capacity issue, I just had a lot of dog hair, foot traffic dirt, and random outside dirt to pick up. This vacuum is amazing! Small, portable, lightweight, powerful, and quiet.
The design of the new Hoover Air is downright beautiful. It doesn't look like a clunky vacuum. It doesn't sound or operate like a traditional vacuum. It's a genius design of function and art. I commend Hoover for making a useful house tool that doesn't take up a lot of space or make my chore of cleaning more of a chore!
The attachments are nicely appointed. The furniture and crevice tool has a bend in it for easy angle cleaning. The hose extends to reach those high up cobwebs and hard to reach areas. The vac came with 2 batteries so that you're never left in the lurch with no power. The charger is quiet and quick! You can dump the canister with the push of one button. You have the option to run the brush with the vacuum or not. When vacuuming some hard floors, you don't want the brush rollers going. It's nice that they thought about that.
All in all, this vacuum has helped make my home cleaner. The parts are precision and well appointed. I plan on telling all my friends and family about this great lithium battery powered Vacuum.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JamesC Intuitive. Nimble. Never loses suction. Makes the chore of vacuuming fun.
I don’t mind cleaning carpets and floors, but my time is valuable, so I need a vacuum that is easy to operate, with good suction and a large cup that doesn’t clog and need to be emptied every 3 minutes. After owning a number of vacuums and constantly being disappointed by their respective shortcomings, I considered a popular Hoover competitor’s ‘no loss of suction’ vacuum which outperforms its competitors time and time again on the infomercials, but I had a difficult time swallowing the exorbitant price tag. For the past several years, I’ve been using a Hoover Elite corded rewind vacuum, which does well at picking up dust and debris from carpets, but doesn’t work well on hard surfaces, is noisy, tethered to the wall by a cord and, with fixed wheels, lacks the maneuverability of the Air. The Air is similar to the Elite in that the dust cup lifts off from the front and empties by a trap door in the bottom of the cup, but is substantially lighter at only 10 lbs. and of course, is cordless. From the moment you open the box, you know the Air is something special. The top of the box flips up and the front hinges open, creating a display with the Air at center stage. The Air comes fully assembled, requiring attachment of the onboard tools and insertion of the aluminum handle. The instructions are well written, easy to read, and full of detailed illustrations. My Air included a handwritten note welcoming me, as one of the first to receive this latest release from Hoover, to ownership of my new Hoover Air, which I thought was a nice touch. The Air includes an extra washable/reusable filter, and accessories including a pivoting dusting tool with a soft brush, a 2-in-1 dusting and crevice tool and multi-floor brush roller and two (2) rechargeable Li-ion batteries. One battery is installed into the front of the Air while the other serves as backup. The batteries arrive with a short charge providing 5-10 mins. of runtime, but after a couple of hours in the charger station, I was able to vacuum my entire house without changing batteries. When the battery is run down and in need of charge, in carpet mode, the motor runs, but the brush roller won’t spin. The Air is intuitive in that it will automatically shut off if the brush roller gets bound, such as sucking up the tassels on an Oriental carpet or small area rugs. Other vacuums I’ve owned, including the Elite, will continue to draw the tassels into the rollers, all the while screeching loudly and creating the smell of burnt rubber until motor is turned off. The onboard LED provides enough light to vacuum in the dark which, oddly enough, I sometime do. The Air is powerful, yet nimble, and pushes along effortlessly with a head that easily maneuvers around objects. In fact, I was able to clean the flooring under a telescope atop a tripod without moving the tripod…impressive! Cleaning under coffee tables is also a breeze. So far, having used the Air everyday for over a week, my only negative comments are that the dust cup is too small for a full size vacuum, requiring cleaning after each use. While the suction is sufficient to draw dust and debris in from all angles on hard surfaces, on carpet mode, the Air doesn’t clean absolutely up to the edge of the wall. The Air also lacks a place to hold all of the included onboard tools. Minor quirks aside, the Hoover Air is cordless and never lost suction which makes up for any other shortcomings, and is hands down the finest vacuum I have owned to date. Highly recommended.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by IronAvatar Power contacts issue
An update to my April 2014 review: After less than a year, My Air Cordless has developed an issue where the motor does not make proper contact with the chassis. It will attempt to power on (the LED lights up), but the motor never turns on, and the unit turns itself off. The contacts between the motor and chassis appear to have developed corrosion due to this improper contact. If I press the motor assembly against the chassis, the unit will turn on. I have both batteries at a full charge. Hopefully Hoover will honor the 5-year warranty on this unit.
Aside from the above issue, I've loved using this cordless vac. It does a great job for everyday cleaning, but as other reviewers have noted, it will not clean as deep as a 12-amp corded or whole-house vac. It does still do a far better job than most other cordless vacs, as I mentioned in my previous review, but I don't have a comparison to the Dyson cordless.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Spring Best Vacuum Ever!
This is the best vacuum I have ever used. My old vacuum is big and bulky and hard to push around. This vacuum is so easy to push around and it turns corners very easily to reach all the areas of carpeting. I was shocked at how much pet hair it vacuumed up after already vacuuming with my old vacuum. This is worth every penny. A great investment to keep your carpets clean.

Unit arrived very well packaged protected. Extremely easy to put into service. Having had the Linux-Cordless, this is a great improvement. Easy for wife to vacuum the whole 1800 sq. feet of the house. The house is 80% tile. Never need brush accept on carpet. This appears to be a good choice for us.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by David d Impressive suction for cordless but has a flaw....
I bought this for my wife for a Christmas gift (she asked for it by name) and note we have 4 girls, and when their hair that falls to the ground over time the hair keeps getting wrapped around the beater brush which we cut off the beater brush with scissors about 2 or 3 times a month when vacuuming. The flaw is that the the hair gets into the side opposite of the belt and when vacuuming for a little while gets wrapped around the part that swivels and heat up and smell like burnt hair or actually melt the plastic so the beater brush won't work properly anymore. I am going to have to buy spare parts for a vacuum that is about 2 months old! Wow! This could be the most expensive vacum I have ever owned if this is is going to be a reoccurring thing! Buyer beware.

I have had this vacuum about two months now. It does not deep clean carpet well. You can you clean your carpet with this vacuum and then run a corded Shark or Dyson over the carpet and get all kinds of dirt out of it. Also I have two dogs that shed a lot - the dust cup capacity is way too small to make it practical if you have dogs.
It is handy if your are doing bare floors or for quick vacuuming where you don't want to drag out a corded vacuum but I would not recommend it as a replacement for a corded vacuum if you have carpet or dogs.
In fairness to Hoover there is only so much you can do with a battery powered vacuum.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Angela62 Great Vacuum!
I have a very small house with a few area rugs but it's mostly hardwood floors. I have an old Kirby that my husband bought when we lived in a two story home with wall to wall carpeting. It's not practical for me now since I'm older and have a physical disability and can't use such a heavy machine. I had purchased a small Bissel vacuum and it worked well but it had a cord and you couldn't stop the brush so when you used it on bare floor it would spray the dirt everywhere. I kind of balked at the price of this Hoover but decided to buy it. What a great decision I made! I love this vacuum! It has a light so you can see what you're cleaning, the brush retracts for bare floor, it's lightweight but powerful and the two batteries are amazing. When the battery is low, the unit shuts off so you're not using a dying vacuum that isn't cleaning properly. You just switch out the battery and you're good to go. It's cordless, so it goes everywhere, it's profile is low to the floor so you can get under cabinets and furniture with ease. It's also easy to dump the dirt canister into the garbage with one finger and no dusty mess. It's awesome and such a pleasure to use.
