I bought this vacuum to care for my carpets in a less than 1000 Sq. ft. apartment and I have to stop to empty canister in between vacuuming which I do once a week. It is impossible to completely empty because it has to be dismantled to completely empty. I have now had it less that a year and I have to take all the hoses apart and push a hanger down them to clean them out. I have now given up. Its going in the trash. Do not buy. wast of a lot of time and money.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 93geotracker Best vacuum I have ever owned
I had considered buying a new vacuum and went to a local vacuum shop to look at them. The owner told me he had some good used ones that had been serviced and had a lot of life left in them, I tried two and this was the second one, I liked the features and the way you can turn off the brush roll to go from carpet to hard wood flooring, and this thing has great power, so I bought it, and I can surly say I will be buying Hoover from now on. Thanks for making my house cleaning so quick and easy. You see I am a 56 years old male who lives alone. With this machine I get my cleaning done and still have time to putt around in the garage.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by tgr never hoover again
Very disappointed. This is our 3rd hoover over 20 years. Should have done my research, but did not think I had to since it was hoover. Loved it the first month or two. great suction. Too much on the carpet - average carpet length, but we don't have much carpet mostly wood and throw rugs. Loved being able to empty the canister. But soon the prefilter started to clog during cleaning. Stuff that should have gone to the cup went to the prefilter. Ridiculous design. At times more hair/dust ball was on the prefilter instead of going to the cup. I used another vacuum to clean the filter so I could finish the house.
I contacted hoover, they suggested I clean the filter. When I told them I did, frequently, they sent me a new one to "fix" the problem. I didn't think it would fix it, but agreed to give it a try. Did not work. Contacted them again, this time taking a picture of the filter. They suggested I take it to a hoover certified repair center.
I know I am not the only one with this issue. Save yourself time and expense, don't buy hoover.
Off to get a new non-hoover vacuum.

We purchased this cleaner about 2 years ago. We liked the performance for about the first year. During the second year, the attachment for the stairs stopped working. We ordered a new one. While waiting for the part to come in, the brushes stopped working. We always kept it clean and cleaned the filters regularly. We took it in for repair and were told they did a "deep" cleaning and if it didn't work after that, it would require a more diagnostic review, which could be expensive. We spent way too much money for this cleaner to only get a year's worth out of it. Needless to say, we are now looking to replace it. Very much not satisfied!!!! We do not recommend purchasing this cleaner.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by nikki123 The best bargain around!
I bought this already inexpensive model on sale, figuring that I couldn't go wrong at the price, especially with the great rating on Hoovers from consumer ratInge organizations. Wow, is that an understatement! This is by far the best bagless upright I've ever owned, and maybe even the best vacuum. Terrific suction on both carpets and floors (take care, though, around throw rugs!), lightweigh. Love the swivel feature and it couldn't be easier to empty the dirt container. The only feature I miss: retracting cord, but, hey, everything else makes up for it. From now on, Hoover owns my soul!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mom in Chicago Good suction.
Bought this just a few days ago. It has better suction then an 11amp Hoover. I like the swivel head for regular vacuuming, however the click in place mechanism is very weak. Then the house is in use, unit is unstable and easily falls. I expect this to be a bigger problem with wear. Also, the brush head unsnaps from horizontal storage so easily that it is inconvenient to carry the unit any where. The reason I got it vs. Shark was price, suction and stronger motor for this level of vacuum cleaner. Like the addition of a HEPPA filter. But again, canister is heavier and doesn't snap in securely.

I bought this product a few months ago and I'm in love with it. Thank you Hoover!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by thecleaner high maintenance vacuum, poor design
This vacuum loses suction if the filters are not kept extremely clean. The brush will stop when there is a minimal amount of hair on it. Both the pre-motor filter and beater brush must be cleaned OFTEN. I have one dog and two children. I believe I live in an average household. I have never owned a vacuum that I had to clean and maintain so much!! I would not recommend this vacuum.
