Yes, that means tile, wood, ceramic, etc. I use this machine on my slate floors and it works great. It never seems to throw bits backward as machines of yore did, even with the roller brush still spinning.

Answer:
If your shag is 2 inches or longer. don't use the beater bar. that will keep the tuffs from being pulled out. It will work with a heavy shag while in the self propelled mode.

The unit should pick up fine on shag carpet as long as the height adjustment is set accordingly. The self propelled feature may no be preferred for use on that kind of carpeting depending on how thick the shag is. Hope this helps.

Slide the Handle into the slot and screw two screws that are furnished. Plug it in and you are ready to go. If you want the self-propelled to be on, you did need to flip a switch on the handle to engage it.

Put the handle in a slot, added 2 screws to secure it and plugged it in. Forgot to turn on the self propelled feature until a friend pointed it out. I have never used it without this feature being on as that is the reason for buying it was self propelled.

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 556 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Loud, but good. I bought this to replace my 25-year-old Hoover Wind Tunnel. I wore ear plugs with the old one due to the loudness. This is better but still not quiet. It is also lighter than the old one, but seems to do as well. It has a HEPA filter, full range of attachments, can be changed from bare floor to carpet, has three carpet height adjustments. Attachment use: This comes with a short hose; I have not idea how one would use it with attachments. The manual shows that you can order a 10-ft hose. (One of my reasons for choosing this model was that I would be able to use a 12-ft hose I already had.) One thing I would have liked this to have is an adjustment for power. September 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great self-propelled, so easy to maneuver, make it feel lightweight, love the attachments on outside of the unit. Vacuums up everything!! I have a 15 year-old windtunnel that is chugging along, but it is for the upstairs bonus room. Bought an expensive dyson 3 years ago, didn't work as well, was heavy to push, roller ball broke off. I dumped it and went back to the tried and true WindTunnel. Best decision at a fraction of the price. I'm sorry I strayed. I have decided that I HATE bagless vacuum cleaners. October 25, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good vacuum for the money. Sturdy. I have had an earlier version of this vacuum for many years - it finally gave out. This newer model runs over the floor a little easier and works as well as the older model. Easy to assemble, but, boy! - it was hard getting it out of the box with my arthritis. My only gripe is that there used to be a place on the front of the chassis where you could grab and pick the vacuum up, so it was easy to move around. This one doesn't have that. Just makes it a little harder to maneuver. October 18, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Very disappointed in this product. While this machine looks good and has a good rating from most sources, I found no mention of carpet height concerns. This machine works well on hard floors and lower pile carpets using one of the three height settings. However, the highest of three settings is VERY INSUFFICIENT for a carpet pile height of 5/8". This machine was purchased purposely for use on a new plush carpet and the combination is a huge disappointment. The cleaner setting cannot be elevated high enough, which results in too much suction pulling on the carpet and too much effort to move the machine, even with the power assist. The concern is that the carpet may eventually be ruined and/or the machine may experience an early death. This machine was a very poor purchase. October 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hoover Wind tunnel Vacuum has full met expectations. It is quite noisy but we were aware of this when we bought it. This is our second Hoover Wind tunnel vacuum purchased over he years. October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I love it!! As I said, I love it!!! No more canisters and filters to constantly clean. No more unplugging to move to another outlet just to finish the last few feet of carpeting. Thank you so much for the "self-propelled" action, not to mention, it was on sale!!!! I'm very happy with mine!! October 18, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by This is the second WindTunnel Vacuum I have owned. I love this one just like the first, the only problem I find is that I am unable to disengage the self propelling feature of the vacuum. Otherwise it is just as wonderful as the first one. October 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Choice Bought this to replace an inadequate Dyson upright pet model Best purchase we have made in a long time October 7, 2016
