Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Rugsucker Brush bristles are too short.
I would be pretty happy with this machine except most of what I use it on is very short flat carpet and the brush doesn't contact the floor. There is no height adjustment on the power head so I would need longer brushes on the beater bar or maybe smaller wheels on the power head so the brushes could actually do their job and agitate the carpet. I wish I had known this before I purchased it so I could have gotten a vacuum that would do what I needed. I would not reccomend this vacuum if you have very short piled carpet other wise I would.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Verified Reviewer Hose is cheap.
I bought this one because of the name brand and a canister. After one week. The hose separated from the base. Had it replaced and the wrapped duct tape around it to help prevent it from breaking again. Seems to work. My wife does not like it so I only use it in the basement. I let my daughter use it once she broke the hose again. You have to be very delicate with it. To me poor quality and would never purchase a Hoover again, because if they build such a cheap hose where it should be the strongest part of a canister vacuum then I can imaging that the rest of the quality is poor.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Lynn13 Poor bag capacity, bad tool holder design
The vacuum works fine, but he bag capacity is very small. I don't have pets so was surprised by how often the bag need to be changed. Bags are not readily available at retail stores or vacuum shops; I've had to order online. The tool holder is poorly designed too as the tools don't stay attached when not is use.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cochese Hoover Duros Horrible
I purchased this particular model about 2 years ago. I always replaced the bag when needed. Recently the bottom part of the suction had a "short circuit" to the point you literally had to lift the suction unit by the handle to get the rollers to turn on.The hose which connects the assembly at the top ripped like paper. This is my second Hoover canister vacuum and it will be my last. As long as you are willing to spend over $150.00 every two years for a replacement vacuum you have nothing to worry about. Great vacuum, great suction, very versatile while it lasts...

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by kaththom One big problem
I bought this vacuum over a year ago, and liked it. However, I could not detach the power nozzle. I struggled and struggled until I finally broke it. Then I ordered a new nozzle and put it on. I couldn't believe it happened again. It says just to push the button to detach, but it must be made for someone much stronger than I. Even my brother and I together could not detach. Consequently, it is unusable for me. I purchased a Hoover upright vacuum near the same time, but it had no attachments. So, I purchased the Duros to provide for that function. I haven't even been able to use it enough to empty the first bag! I will never purchase another Hoover canister vacuum without trying to detach the power nozzle first. The machine itself seemed to work well, but it is useless to me. I totally wasted my money because the detach button never let me detach. It's a lot to spend to get nothing but sore hands and frustration.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SusieOttawa Excellent Vacuum
I have owned several vacuums and really did my homework before buying this vacuum. Very sturdy and light weight. The suction is incredible. Accessory tools are sturdy and the pet brush attachment is great. Am finding a lot less dusting because it is not bagless. Own a bagless upright and it can't compare to the performance this vacuum has. Filters available almost anywhere. Highly recommend this vacuum!!!!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Redraider76 It Works Well, Must Follow Maintenance Rules
I am not the regular user of the vac but was concerned about the decrease in suction. After visiting the Hoover site, reviewing all manuals including the parts list, I decided to attempt to improve the suction. I found, many of the manual instructions, bag replacement, filter cleaning, and usage, no dampness, had been exceeded. Trouble shooting suggested that the hose assembly was clogged. I took the hose ends off, be careful, the hose is a conduit for electricity, do not break or cut internal hose electrical lines. Do not use a wire hanger. I used a broom handle once I removed both ends, one end is glued, used lots of electrical tape in putting the glued end back together to assure no shorts and to maintain suction. I was amazed, the bag indicator returned to normal and it works like new. A good value at the price point, but follow all maintenance instructions.
