I was looking for something to clean our slate tile. After checking many reviews of many cleaners I decided on the Hoover. And I am so glad I did. I purchased this at Home Depot on 11/12/2013. I spent the entire afternoon cleaning our floor. The machine worked so well, and was so easy to fill and empty. It cleaned better than I'd hoped for. I used the entire bottle of cleaner that was supplied with the machine and went back to Home Depot and purchased the largest bottle I could find of the Hoover Hard Floor cleaner. I would buy this machine again.

I've been wanting to buy one of these forever and was kind of excited to scrub my floors. I finally went to Home Depot today to check it out.. This website said there were five on the floor but there were only two. Both boxes were taped sloppily with packing tape. The contents rattled when moving the boxes. I really wanted to try it out so I took a chance and bought one. When I got it to my car I opened it and there as an almost laughable mess. The unit itself was UPSIDE DOWN. The plastic bag that was supposed to be the cover was wadded up in the bottom of the box. The pieces were clanking around and were obviously thrown in. Nothing was holding anything together. No manual or warranty information. I'm so mad at myself for not taking pictures. I returned it immediately and the clerk asked me if I wanted another one. I told him there was one left and I'd check it out. I went back, opened the box and it was the same story, except the unit wasn't upside down. Its probably for the best, as it was obviously a cheaply made hunk of junk. I wasn't expecting an industrial cleaner, but it is so very light. The spinner scrubber things were like toothbrushes. The grout on our floors is not flush with the tiles, so the corners would have ripped those little suckers apart after one room. If your floors are FILTHY (like ours) this is definitely not for you. I am including my review of Home Depot in this product review because they do not post the store experience summaries. Also when you leave feedback they don't even take your contact information. Huh?

This is a very good product for the money. It dose a great job. It would be really nice if it was much wider due to our open floor plan. I have used it twice now to clean 750 sqft.

I just moved into a house with tile floors. Previous owner had 2 dogs and was not much into cleaning. The main selling point for me on the Floormate was the separate tanks so that I wasn't swishing dirt around with my string mop. Secondly is the very impressive drying feature - no more hollering at my husband to get off the (still) wet floor ! The only negatves (this they note in the manual ) is that it piddles out water when you stop. I have to store it on a tray. Secondly is the tiny, ill-fitting gasket on the dirty tank. I almost lost it down the disposal, and it does not seat right. Not sure if it has any affect on the suction power, but a definite design flaw. But, I am extremely happy with my purchase of this machine!

I bought this particular floor cleaner because it was smaller than others and thus cheaper, but easier to store and lighter to carry. When I tried to use it the instructions were not exactly clear and it did not suck up water. You are not supposed to return it to the store so I called Hoover. After a fairly long wait on hold a very nice person walked me through some troubleshooting ideas. They did not solve the problem, so another call to Hoover. More wait time. The second rep was also unable to solve the issue. He said I would need to take it to the repair shop 30-40 miles from my home. I did that and they just started it and it worked. There is a knob that has to be turned to dry to suction up the water and turned again to put water on the carpet. (Both reps had said that I was to only use the wash setting because I asked.) Since I have very little carpet to worry about it will be Ok, but it does seem to be a bother if you have to do a larger area and change the setting every time you push and pull.
