Answer:
I'm surprised that a Hoover rep would say it's ok for laminate. If the laminate isn't sealed, wouldn't that be a risk? if any moisture goes between the slats, that could cause buckling and peeling, couldn't it?
If I'm wrong, please correct me, since I have laminate and would LOVE to use my new Floormate on it!

I have used it o my laminates for spills and to clean. While I would not recommend washing a laminate regularly per the manufacturers warning i found that this unit pulled the water up very efficiently. I used the wash setting for all then went over with the dry setting to insure no residual moisture was left.

I use it on older hardwood floors and it works beautifully! I am positive that it would be completely safe on laminate. Since it removes the water and dries very quickly, it should work great! I love mine! My floors are clean, and I'm not worn out!

We haven't used it on hardwood yet. There's 2 different sets of brushes. The softer brushes would be for hardwood. If you use the coarser set of brushes, they'd scratch the hardwood finish, I'm afraid.

It is my understanding that water is not a friend of hardwood floors. With that thought I would say it is not good for hardwood as quite a bit of water is sprayed out & it does not dry the floor completely.

Also, I found the Hoover representative I spoke to on the phone, to be less helpful. I understand that they are here to sell their products, but there should be some alternative to floor cleaners than just theirs. If a customer buys the machine, they should not be required to buy the cleaner.
Personally, I have two fur babies and the included cleaner is not safe for them, so I was looking for a SAFE alternate to use in my new machine, that would also be safe for the Floormate.
If any of the Floormate users know any available ones, I sure would be appreciative to hear those!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to assemble and use After 4 defective Shark steamer mops....this one is second to none ! Easy to assemble, even easier to operate and did a wonderful deep clean on our tile floors. We are so glad we made this purchase...don't hesitate. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much better than the old ones I've had. I have had 2 of the floor mates. They clean just fine but are very LOUD and a bit harder to clean. I haven't used the new one too much yet but it is much less loud and a lot easier to clean up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from life saver I've had a Hoover Floormate for about 12 years now and it's finally starting to show it's age after hundreds of uses. so I bought a new one and hope it lasts me another 12 years..........then I'll be the ripe old age of 87. :) If it gives out by then, I'll hire a maid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One word. amazing! Let me start by saying that I mop my house religiously. 3 kids and and a house full of tile? I ordered this for when I felt like deep cleaning the floors. I mopped, then got this out of the box and did my kitchen and the water was so gross. I couldn't believe how much stuff and dirt was still on my floor even after mopping! I now use this once a week on top of my mopping constantly. It works so well! If you have hard floors this is a MUST have if you like your floors to be clean! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I love my FloorMate. I can't believe how dirty my floors were. Its like scrubbing the floors on your hands and knees but you don't even have to bend over.
Date published: 2016-12-03
Rated 1 out of 5 by from this model absolutely SUCKS!!!!!! I had the original floormate. I LOVED the product. I used it all the time and it lasted almost 8 years, which I feel is quite old for a vacuum. I replaced it with this new model and will not buy another. The new one is very difficult to clean out. I had to unscrew to clean out the dirt and clean the bristles. These just popped out in the old model. In addition this spews dirty water all over the floor when you turn it off. Don't waste your money. Hoover should have never changed and cheaped out with this piece of c@#p.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from ModelFH40160 For two months it worked great. Now it will not turn on!!!!! Wth is this ??????
Date published: 2016-08-28
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than my old Floormate! I was a little apprehensive about the new Floormate Deluxe. My old Floormate was about 10 years old and had been acting up and could not be fixed. I saw some bad reviews about the new one leaking, the brush head was smaller, etc. Although the size of the scrubber is a couple inches smaller than my old one, I actually like it because it gets in places I could not before. Unit performed similar as my old one when it was new and obviously liked it enough that I wore it out and bought another. It cleans my hard floors great. My only complaint is with the handles on the tank. They stick out like a pair of wings and can make it hard when scrubbing close to kitchen cabinets. Also, this thing really has some suction. It leaves the floor completely dry and is almost hard to maneuver, but I am sure it will get easier with time as the rubber seal against the floor gets a little slicker.
