Answer:
I'm surprised that a Hoover rep would say it's ok for laminate. If the laminate isn't sealed, wouldn't that be a risk? if any moisture goes between the slats, that could cause buckling and peeling, couldn't it?
If I'm wrong, please correct me, since I have laminate and would LOVE to use my new Floormate on it!

I have used it o my laminates for spills and to clean. While I would not recommend washing a laminate regularly per the manufacturers warning i found that this unit pulled the water up very efficiently. I used the wash setting for all then went over with the dry setting to insure no residual moisture was left.

I use it on older hardwood floors and it works beautifully! I am positive that it would be completely safe on laminate. Since it removes the water and dries very quickly, it should work great! I love mine! My floors are clean, and I'm not worn out!

We haven't used it on hardwood yet. There's 2 different sets of brushes. The softer brushes would be for hardwood. If you use the coarser set of brushes, they'd scratch the hardwood finish, I'm afraid.

It is my understanding that water is not a friend of hardwood floors. With that thought I would say it is not good for hardwood as quite a bit of water is sprayed out & it does not dry the floor completely.

Also, I found the Hoover representative I spoke to on the phone, to be less helpful. I understand that they are here to sell their products, but there should be some alternative to floor cleaners than just theirs. If a customer buys the machine, they should not be required to buy the cleaner.
Personally, I have two fur babies and the included cleaner is not safe for them, so I was looking for a SAFE alternate to use in my new machine, that would also be safe for the Floormate.
If any of the Floormate users know any available ones, I sure would be appreciative to hear those!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this machine! I just moved into a house with tile floors. Previous owner had 2 dogs and was not much into cleaning. The main selling point for me on the Floormate was the separate tanks so that I wasn't swishing dirt around with my string mop. Secondly is the very impressive drying feature - no more hollering at my husband to get off the (still) wet floor ! The only negatves (this they note in the manual ) is that it piddles out water when you stop. I have to store it on a tray. Secondly is the tiny, ill-fitting gasket on the dirty tank. I almost lost it down the disposal, and it does not seat right. Not sure if it has any affect on the suction power, but a definite design flaw. But, I am extremely happy with my purchase of this machine! July 13, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by I hate this machine! I wanted to love it. But everytime I use it the spin brushes fall off the machine and the bristles are not long enough to clean the grout. I should have returned it to the store. July 26, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Expensive mop You can clean just as well as this machine with a mop July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hard floor cleaner Great cleaner. I can see my grout getting lighter every time I use this, because only clean water gets dispensed onto floor. Clean water down, then gets vacuumed right back up. Love that the vacuum gets all the grit up so I don't have to dust mop after the floor dries like I used to. July 5, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Can't recommend My home is all ceramic tile floors and I have owned this for about 8 months and use it almost every day. I don't like the on off switch because it is encased in a rubber cover and it's difficult to turn it off and on if you don't push it just the right way. I started to use it yesterday and it started and then died. I always bought Hoover carpet cleaners because they lasted so long but this floor ate is junk. July 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worth the investment We have a substantial amount of ceramic tile and several dogs. I have been through several floor cleaners and this one is great. I use it daily and for the price, it really gets the job done. I would absolutely recommend it for tile floor cleaning. June 28, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not as expected The good - Extremely satisfying to see all that dirty water go into the reservoir, instead of being pushed around with the dirty mop. It puts water on the floor, does a light scrub, and then sucks the water up. I No pushing dirty water around and wringing out the mop. It leaves the floor fairly dry. For floors that are already pretty clean, it works pretty good. You can flood the floor and suck the dirty water up. Multiple passes keep producing more dirty water in the reservoir, so it's definitely cleaning. Even if you think your floors are clean, you can still get dirty water into the reservoir, so in that sense, it is quite satisfying seeing all the dirt that was there, now being poured down the drain. It is perfect for my mom, who takes her shoes off in the entry, lives alone, wipes up any messes right away, picks up after herself, and has no pets. What I don't like, and sorry the list is long. It can't compete with my ability to sweep, vacuum and then mop; I am much more thorough. Not that easy to move around. It's heavier and more awkward than an average vacuum. The cord isn't long enough, and isn't retractable. The water reservoirs, both dirty and clean, are too small, and need to be refilled and emptied mid cleaning. It doesn't get into corners or edges. If your floors are actually dirty from having a busy household, (dogs, kids, etc.), this isn't going to clean them. It feels very cheaply made, the plastic feels like it could snap or crack at any time, and it has a funny smell. It's loud. I never used the included cleanser, as I didn't like the scent, and I prefer natural cleaners. I tried a few different cleaners, vinegar, castile soap, etc., but it didn't make much difference over using plain water. I tried hot and cold water. Great idea, looks good on paper, but doesn't work for me. If they could make this product lighter and easier to maneuver, if it has some on board attachments to get into corners, and spot scrub dirty spots, and a retractable cord it would be so much better. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Floormate We love it, go slow and it works better than any other machine I have tried, June 28, 2016
