Answer:
I'm surprised that a Hoover rep would say it's ok for laminate. If the laminate isn't sealed, wouldn't that be a risk? if any moisture goes between the slats, that could cause buckling and peeling, couldn't it?
If I'm wrong, please correct me, since I have laminate and would LOVE to use my new Floormate on it!

I have used it o my laminates for spills and to clean. While I would not recommend washing a laminate regularly per the manufacturers warning i found that this unit pulled the water up very efficiently. I used the wash setting for all then went over with the dry setting to insure no residual moisture was left.

I use it on older hardwood floors and it works beautifully! I am positive that it would be completely safe on laminate. Since it removes the water and dries very quickly, it should work great! I love mine! My floors are clean, and I'm not worn out!

We haven't used it on hardwood yet. There's 2 different sets of brushes. The softer brushes would be for hardwood. If you use the coarser set of brushes, they'd scratch the hardwood finish, I'm afraid.

It is my understanding that water is not a friend of hardwood floors. With that thought I would say it is not good for hardwood as quite a bit of water is sprayed out & it does not dry the floor completely.

Also, I found the Hoover representative I spoke to on the phone, to be less helpful. I understand that they are here to sell their products, but there should be some alternative to floor cleaners than just theirs. If a customer buys the machine, they should not be required to buy the cleaner.
Personally, I have two fur babies and the included cleaner is not safe for them, so I was looking for a SAFE alternate to use in my new machine, that would also be safe for the Floormate.
If any of the Floormate users know any available ones, I sure would be appreciative to hear those!

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 550 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by FLOORMATE DELUXE HARD FLOOR CLEANER At least once a year I get down on my hands and knees to strip the floor before waxing. At 65 it gets harder every year. With this machine I am able to scrub the floor with out hurting my knees or back. It does a fine job. You must take your time and let the machine do its job. Floor drys in less that an hour. Before it took maybe 2 or three hours. It is easy to fill and empty. The solution requirement is minimal. Then again this floor is only 8X10 with cabinets. It's nice that it come with 2 sets of brushes. When I get the hard wood for the rest of the house this will come in handy. April 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good machine I have not had the machine very long so cannot comment on it's durability, but it does an excellent job cleaning my tile floors. I would not use it on my engineered hardwood as I feel the "boost" needs to be used often and that would get the wood floor too wet nor would I use it on marble or delicate surfaces or on laminate. I think the brush area should be wider as that might make it quicker to use. The tanks are easy to fill and empty, but they could be a bit larger. Takes longer than I think it should to do the floor - a mop is much quicker, but the machine is easier on my back. I plan to use it occasionally for a "deep" clean and use a mop on a regular basis. Time consuming, but the floor does look and feel clean and bright after use. The tile looks nice and bright after use. October 23, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best way to clean the floor! I am really please with the Floormate deluxe hard floor cleaner. It was easy to assemble - just needed to put the handle on with a few included screws. The cleaner scrubs the floor and then suctions off the water so that the floor is clean and dry. There are two tanks - one for the clean & one for the dirty water. No more scrubbing the floor on my hands & knees!! November 10, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great product but...... i received the floor cleaner but it was a previous return and it is missing the instruction manual. not happy. lou ann April 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great purchase This floor cleaner worked flawlessly, was easy to fill and empty and overall did a great job on our tile floors. April 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product I bought this at Home Depot based upon both the 5 Star and 1 Star reviews. I have to say that while it's possible that some of the 1 Star reviewers might have gotten a defective product, most of them probably started using the Hoover Floormate deluxe without reading the instructions or understanding how to properly clean a floor. I work in facilities management. I have used floor cleaning products from $10 mops to $40,000 industrial floor scrubbing machines. For the money, this product does exactly what it's supposed to do. The cord is the perfect length, the two different brushes work very well depending on what type of floor a person is cleaning. The vacuum feature really gets all the debris, and clean up after the job is done is a breeze. We have multiple pets and nothing we used ever got all the hair. The first time I used the Floormate, I purposefully did not vacuum first, I just ran the machine. And the floor was spotless. No streaks, no puddles, no cat or dog hair. I've since recommended this product to others, they've tried it, and they agree that this thing works. Two thumbs way up. April 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Great Tile Cleaner This works great on my ceramic floor tiles. I would highly recommend it. Leaves a perfect shine when used with the recommended floor cleaner. I haven't tried it on my laminated floors but when I do will post an update. April 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Must buy for people with pets! I am so happy that I purchased this product. I have 3 big dog's and they tend to sometimes use the bathroom in the house or make messes. I was really tired of mopping after them everyday. I have hardwood floors so mopping my floor everyday was leaving water stains and also leaving the floor filmy looking. But after using this everyday my floors are clean as if I have no pets and its amazing to see all the dirty water you have after using. No more placing the dirty water back on the floor. I do use a mop once in a while because I love the smell of pine-sol but I use the hoover after. I highly recommend this machine of you have pets or even if your just lazy and don't want to mop everyday. February 6, 2016
