CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 503 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Hoover carpet cleaner I have ever owned I have now had my Hoover Extract 60 carpet cleaner for a couple of years. I HATE it!! I had a hoover before and absolutely loved it. It had great suction and did a good job cleaning, unfortunately after 15 years, it died on me. This one is HORRIBLE at sucking up the water. In fact, half the time it isn't sucking up any!! The bladder that the water goes into doesn't seem to fit snugly and you have to mess with it to get it to fit and finally start to suck. Needless to say, I am in the market for a new carpet cleaner. August 8, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Broke during first use The good: It definitely gets out tough carpet stains. It's effective but slow...expect several rounds of emptying dirty water tanks and refilling the clean ones. The bad: Mine broke during first use. Somehow the brushes were jammed, and caused the pin that connects to the turbine to break. To make matters worse, I contacted Hoover directly (because there is a sticker on the product that said do not return to store, call Hoover with any problems), but their support was also disappointing. Ironically, one of the first things the customer service rep suggested was for me to take it back to the store. It was only after I pointed out that the sticker advised me to contact them first that a serious attempt was made to troubleshoot the problem. I'll spare you the details but it took nearly a month to get a replacement brush-block. The 3rd disappoint is that the dirty water tank leaks a little. It beats me why they would assemble the walls of the tank with what appears to be some sort of glue instead of using a unibody design. I think Hoover's engineers misplaced their priorities on appearance instead of the absolute best build quality. In short, it looks pretty, it works, but flimsy materials used for assembly. In my non-expert opinion, this product will suffer a catastrophic failure after 15-20 uses in a 1000 sq ft sized home. August 15, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very Disappointed I bought this carpet cleaner about 3 years ago. The only carpet that is in my house is in a guest room and an area rug. It had been used about 3 times after I first bought it when the brushes stopped spinning. I called Hoover to find out that I had to take it to an approved repair place that was 45 minutes away from where I lived. I took it there and it stayed a few weeks. After picking it up, when I went to use it, then it wouldn't suck the water up. I couldn't help but laugh. Obviously, I wasn't calling the repair place back because I didn't have the energy to drive to downtown Nashville again for another repair and then to drive back to get it again. My time is more valuable. After spending over $200 on this item from Best Buy and the time and gas that had been spent taking it for repairs, I was over it. It seems that the lid on the tank is missing a spring or something. I haven't decided if I'm going to purchase this part as I would rather chuck this thing in the trash and go buy a Bissell. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by It broke after a few uses I had an older model for years and replaced it with the Max Extract. The tiny little valve in the bottom of the detergent side of the tank broke and fell out after only using it a few times. I was told I had to replace the whole tank unit because they don't sell the little valve. So, I bought a whole new tank unit. The second time I used it - the valve was broken - the spring on it was gone and thus as I poured in the detergent, it ran out all over the counter. I wish I still had my old one. August 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This product is easy to use. This product is easy to use. It cleans better than any other steam cleaner we have used before. January 31, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Broken drive pin I have the same reviews as many others. Used the MaxExtract 60 twice and was very happy with the results. But, on the third use, I noticed the brushes were not spinning. Upon inspection, I discovered the very flimsy drive pin to the brushes was sheared in two. Seems to be a very common problem that has not been adequately addressed by Hoover. July 26, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 2nd time using my Hoover the brushes stopped' I have had my Hoover less then 6 months. I first time I used my Hoover I cleaned my bathroom carpet and the it turned out immaculate. The second time the brushes stopped turning. Making the carpet cleaner useless. I had high hopes because of the reviews I read. July 11, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Waste of money Terrible carpet cleaner comes with terrible customer service. I bought this carpet cleaner and the first one leaked terribly. I took it to the repair shop Hoover told me to take it to and waited a month with no word back and unreturned phone calls. Finally, Hoover just sent me a new cleaner. This one also stopped working for different reasons. The dirty water tank has a defective, poorly designed handle that swings over to lock the lid down. Which also after very little use chewed the pegs off on the side that the handle swung around leaving the lid just sitting on top with no pressure. They told me it must have been my fault and I could buy a new one. The internet was full of the same problem. Next the brushes stopped working. Don't waste your money! Buy something else!
