I have a small home with only one bedroom which has carpet and another room with a small area rug over hardwood floor. After 4 uses to clean these areas the drive pin broke that operates the brushes and to make things even worse there is not enough suction to pick up the solution from the carpet. I use about 2/3 of a tank for cleaning this area and only about a pint of solution comes back into the dirty water tank, leaving the floor soaking wet. No matter how many times the filters are cleaned, no matter how clean the tank seal is it still won't pick up the dirty water from a very close tight weave carpet. Very poor design and really useless. I think the scrap yard is the next stop for this machine.

This product is easy to use. It cleans better than any other steam cleaner we have used before.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Yaadie Broke during first use
The good: It definitely gets out tough carpet stains. It's effective but slow...expect several rounds of emptying dirty water tanks and refilling the clean ones.
The bad: Mine broke during first use. Somehow the brushes were jammed, and caused the pin that connects to the turbine to break. To make matters worse, I contacted Hoover directly (because there is a sticker on the product that said do not return to store, call Hoover with any problems), but their support was also disappointing. Ironically, one of the first things the customer service rep suggested was for me to take it back to the store. It was only after I pointed out that the sticker advised me to contact them first that a serious attempt was made to troubleshoot the problem. I'll spare you the details but it took nearly a month to get a replacement brush-block.
The 3rd disappoint is that the dirty water tank leaks a little. It beats me why they would assemble the walls of the tank with what appears to be some sort of glue instead of using a unibody design. I think Hoover's engineers misplaced their priorities on appearance instead of the absolute best build quality.
In short, it looks pretty, it works, but flimsy materials used for assembly. In my non-expert opinion, this product will suffer a catastrophic failure after 15-20 uses in a 1000 sq ft sized home.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DCL59 Good shampooer for the price.
We were looking to replace an earlier Hoover product that we had used for many years. We were originally looking to upgrade and get a more commercial type shampooer however we found this model at Home Depot for a really decent price and decided to go with this one. Its been a nice shampooer and has done what we expected it to do. The hand shampooer is not powered and we would have preferred that. The heated blower really gets the carpet drier than our previous model so we don't have to wait nearly as long before replacing the furniture or walking on the carpet. If you're looking for a decent mid-range shampooer, this is worth the money.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Dave Mant Times Better than my Bissell
Fragile Design. Treat it gently. But it extracts MUCH more dirt than my BIssell ProHeat did and it is lighter and easier to clean. Much easier to clean. Far superior product.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by newyork1987 Cleans really well but leaks water
I want to leave a better review, because it does clean the carpet super well. I love seeing all the dirt it digs out of my carpet. The problem, as I've read in other reviews, is that the clean water tank leaks a lot of water onto the tray under it (and onto my carpet). I've tried filling the little hole that water was pouring out of onto the carpet, but it's a temporary fix. It's annoying. Even after I am finished using it, and everything seems to be empty, I have to lay a towel under it so it doesn't soak my carpet. I still use the cleaner because it works well, but if anyone knows why this thing leaks, I'd love to hear a solution.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mike Hoover Max Extract 60, MAJOR IMPROVEMENT over SteamVacs
This unit has a good amount of weight on the front end which allows it to suck up the water batter than the Steamvac models. The tanks also are easier to remove, no need to fold the handle down to remove the dirty water tank. The soap goes in a separate tank within the clean water tank and allows for the option of washing or rinsing without soap. If you read the directions, that is, you squeeze trigger going forward, and then going back, then release trigger to suck up the solution with the same forward and back motion, the rugs get very clean and not overly soaked. the rugs will dry in 2 hours or so. This unit is worth buying even if you have a brand new StemVac in your closet.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by TruckGuy Big Mistake
I purchased this Hoover Extract 60 without reading the reviews (web site was down). After getting home the site was back up so I read the reviews which were largely negative. Nevertheless, I assembled it, filled with water and cleaner and pressed the start button. I found it would not run unless the button was held down. So back to the store and got a refund. I then went to another store and bought another brand which did have good reviews. Other observations were a) the hose is almost impossible to coil up as designed because it is too stiff and kinks, b) the power cord seemed short and was extremely stiff. Purchase at your own risk.
