what causes water to run from from hose when using fh50240 for cleaning floor, with water & detergent in tank. Thank You
Asked by: andy
Hi andy! If the hose is not seated properly in the holster when washing the carpets this can cause the hose to leak. Please ensure the hose is seated all the way down in the holster when you’re not using the hose. Otherwise the water and suction will go to the hose instead of underneath the unit. If further assistance is needed feel free to reach out to us via Facebook or Tweet us @HooverUSA. We’re here for you! –Karissa, Hoover Customer Care

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broken parts( suctionface clip handle broken, seals dont seal tight enough and water leaks.etc...) This machine would have been a great purchase, however the engineers, smart as they think they are, should have designed a better and stronger clip for the suction face to clip onto the machine. As it is now it broke almost immediately cause the forward push puts an intense pressure on that particular piece and it is just too gosh danged weak to sustain that type pressure. I've reattached it with epoxy cement, and it broke of again at a different location, so i reattached it and this time i added some strengthening braces by attaching them on each side with epoxy and super glue using a fish tail design and it seems to be holing allot better and even when i try to break it off on purpose, it holds even stronger, like a half inch rope tie. The other problems were the gears in the impeller suction compartment that uses a vacuum to turn the gears that rotate the brushes up front of the machine. Apparently the gears bounce around up and down in the compartment enough to cause the sleeve to wear out and subsequently wall-or out the sleeve and pi assembly, causing the gears to go up and over the other gears and therefore simply scraping each other rather than catching on in perfect timing and turning the brush assembly. I repaired it by scraping out the pin slot and machining a brass bushing and machining and honing out the sleeves to match exactly where the alignment will have perfect synchronicity and there by no more gear slippage. i also super glued the pin into the slot and also to the new brass bushing ?fitting so that it only rotates on the sleeve and bushing and not the gear itself, Actually was working perfect till i heard an enormous throaty grinding sound coming from the motor and now am about to open this up again and see what else hoover forgot to engineer correctly and or maybe the who motor just fell apart in the useless thing. well anyway I am sure i can fix it without ordering any extra parts or motors entirely.. Stick around and you all might just learn something from a dumb Mexican boy from Texas...will follow up with diagnosis and REPAIR TECHNIQUES, AND SOLUTIONS. HOW HARD COULD IT BE TO ENGINEER A SOMETHING THAT CLEANS CARPETS RIGHT.... heck i could build you a shopping mall in the middle of Blair Witch forest with just a paper clip and a book of matches...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best ever! Have used many machines over the years, but this is by far the best I've ever had...it's an absolute workhorse! I've been using this model for the past 6 yrs, with 5 active dogs, and over 2000 sq ft of light beige, frise carpeting..just got a replacement, and it's better than ever. The auto-rinse and clean surge features are time savers that I couldn't live without. Other new Hoover models seem to have done away with those features, which in my opinion is a huge mistake...results in double the work!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY This is our second hoover steam cleaner! first one we had for 10 years! This one HAS never worked properly. Always leaks out the back! Do not buy it. Even after Hoover troubleshoot...still does not fix the problem! Stay clear...but another one! Was WAY expensive too!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very difficult to use I used this for the first time yesterday. It has a very small output of cleaner an an even smaller amount of suction. Followed instructions and watched how to videos to help ensure correctly put together. Still nothing. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use! I bought a Hoover cleaner because I can depend on it working as opposed to some other brands. The salesman told me how to use it. I went home and no problems.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaks I used to love this vacuum when it worked. I have always used Hoover products and clean it after each use. My problem with this model started with a small leak whenever I parked it. It recently started leaving a black watery solution. My biggest problem now is that when I turn it on the clean water tank fills up the dirty water tank in about 2 minutes. Some water gets onto the carpet but it leaves them soaked! The suction on this machine is not great either. I basically have to get on my knees and use the hose so that the attacked hose sucks more of the water.
