Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Muguet des bois Very powerful vacuum. In fact, it is so powerful, it sucked up the power cord and chewed up most of the cord insulation!
Very lightweight, very powerful. Not as loud as other Hoovers, but it is still loud. Stair cleaning feature is no easy to use and doesn't clean the very end or back of the stair. It is still not low enough to get under beds. Self adjustment is good. What do I do about the power cord? Love the light and long power cord.

On my second one. First one wore out I guess, needed new carbon brushes. seemed like a premature death IMO. Second one is flashing check bag light for no reason and will not run, seems like an electrical circuit board problem. Too bad because when it does work it has good power. Done me thinks with this brand!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by LeslieM Replacement of 20 year Hoover
My origin Hoover survived so well, I had to replace it with another when it finally died.
I chose the two-piece set to get a lighter option and the quality I had always known.
I like the old-type bagged vac. Miss the power assist. The canister is light but I haven't gotten used to it yet. Seems good so far.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by FrankieB Good vacumm with bad drive belt.
Only had the vacumm one month and already the drive belt came apart. I'm hoping this was a flaw with this particular belt and not a continuing problem. Replacement belts are not cheap. Also, it is curious that the same replacement belt can be purchased online at Amazon.com far cheaper than through Hoover.com

Just received the Hoover Platinum bagged upright and canister. The upright does ok., but very disappointed in the canister. Doesn't clean much at all with the floor attachment. It seems with the longer extension there's not enough power to pick dirt up off the floor. Was only using the cannister in my small laundry room. I even tried it without the extension with no good result. Any suggestions?

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Brokenneck Great Vacuum...not so great handle
The Vacuum is by far the best I've owned in regards to its suction and performance. However, the handle should be redesigned. Like many other reviewers, mine too broke off at the base. Have had it for about five years without any problem, until this. I have tried to order a replacement online but they are out of stock which makes me suspect that many others are having the same problem. I would definitely buy another one if it did not have a self destruct handle at the end of the warranty.

This was a pretty effective vacuum while it lasted. Handle broke off less than a year after the 5 year warranty period ended. Others have mentioned this as well. So if you are ok with a 5 year life, it's not a bad product.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Neal45 Pretty well pleased
Does a pretty good job but I have to compare it to a more than 12 year old Oreck 8# that had burned out. The Hoover is cheaper and works well on carpets that challenged the Oreck. But the Oreck was much better on stairs because it was lighter and the cord was easier to use because of higher quality.
Hoover Pros - Lighter than many, good suction, long cord, good on wood/carpet mixture floors. Seems to be a decent vacuum for the money.
Hoover Cons - A bit heavy for stairs, cord quality so-so, and changing from high to low suction works poorly, and sometimes not at all. I just leave it on high because I am afraid it will stick permanently on low. Not a major feature anyway.
