I have been using this vacuum cleaner for over 30 years. I still have 2 olds ones that I have in repair. The new one has a much longer cord, which I love. The power is great and has more attachments that I have on the older ones. Quite frankly I couldn't be without one. I have wheels on 2 of my old ones. Years ago you could buy them and snap them on.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Susie Great purchase as far as I know. It was bought for one of our other facilities and I don't actually use it, but haven't heard anything negative.
This product is similar, only newer as one we have been using for a few years. Very helpful. Good size.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Coll Good, for the price
I was looking for a vacuum that was easy to carry. Lugging my heavy vacuum around and cleaning stairs was hurting my left arm, and this is much easier to use. I especially like the blower, and all the other tools. The cord is certainly long enough to get the job done. Great price, too. Some reviews said it was loud. I don't think it's any louder than my upright.
The only con is that it doesn't have the strongest suction, but for what I use it for, it's fine.

I have had my PortaPower for 25 years and am now just coming to the website to order a new hose. It is the handiest portable vacuum you can ask for. I clean furniture blinds, baseboards, wood floors, car interiors and lots of other spaces, especially small ones. The long cord helps me to keep going from room to room. It is lightweight to carry. I do use my upright hoover for my carpet as it does do a better job on the deep cleaning.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by dk12390 fair vacuum, bag difficult to clean
I was really looking forward to getting this vacuum, although it picks up most dirt from hard surface with repeated swipes over the same area...it's not the "commercial" quality i was expecting. The bag is a mess to empty, a lot of dirt gets stuck under the rubber lip of the bag. Disposable bags may avoid this problem. Floor attachment has a wide head but the suction area is only a few inches...unfortunately i wouldn't recommend anyone purchase this vacuum.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by momtoboys suction just not great
I wanted to like this vacuum as I was replacing a fairly new canister and didn't want to spend that much again. On the plus side, the small cleaning head made it easy to quickly clean around toys and furniture in my son's rooms. But the lack of suction made it take way too long to clean in the long run. It works terribly on very low pile area rugs and ok on the hardwoods, but I still had to go over little things multiple times on the hardwoods. It's not bad on the shoulder to carry, but I wore the strap cross body to keep the unit from sliding forward when I bent down to clean. The long cord is another plus. I would recommend it only as a second vacuum if you want to do an OK job quickly.

I used the Hoover Canister as a professional house cleaner, and am very pleased to finally have one of my own. It is light, efficient, comparatively quiet and best of all, body-mounted. There is no dragging it from room to room; it goes where you go. The strap can be adjusted to carry either across the body or from the shoulder to minimize back strain. And the cord is extra long.
For homes with hard surface floors, particularly larger homes, it makes thorough work - corners, baseboards, walls, under beds - much less arduous. It's gentle on expensive wool rugs, unlike uprights which can pull off nap with the beater bar. And included attachments tackle the rest - upholstery, lamp shades, computer keyboards and hard drives, even the vents on televisions.
My only 'complaints': the bag must be emptied, which can be dusty (I blow mine out with a leaf blower!), I'd like one more extension pole for vaulted ceilings and a carry case to keep all the accessories together.
In my opinion, it is definitely worth the investment, and for homes with primarily hard-surface flooring, there is nothing better.
