Hi Bo! We do not recommend using steaming or boiling water in the machine. This can damage or melt the plastic of the tanks. Hope this helps! -Karissa, Hoover Customer Care

Answer:
It's not designed for that.
I would not use boiling water since it's all plastic parts, however lower temp hot water might be OK.
Either way it's a risk.

You can put hot tap water in, but I wouldn't boil water on the stove and put it in. The clear tank is made of plastic - not made for boiling water.

It will scrub the floor, but it won't do a good job sucking up the water. I wouldn't recommend it, unless you plan to mop up the water.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 129 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Handy Carpet Washer This carpet washer was very easy to assemble. It took just a couple of minutes to put together. It was very intuitive and I did not need instructions. The washer is lightweight and easy to use. I can do an average size room with one tank. The smaller attachment allows for tight spaces and stairs. The washer cleans well and does not leave the carpet too wet. Overall, this washer does a nice job. May 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value This carpet cleaner is a great value. I love that it is compact and easy to store. It is light weight and does not take up nearly as much space as other Hoover models I have used in the past. It comes with cleaning accessories but they are not attached to the actual cleaner. It comes with a zipper mesh hanging bag that can be used to store the hose and attachments separately. The tanks are smaller but I was able to clean a 10x10 room with one tank of cleaner. It has 2 spinner brushes that seemed to really do a good job agitating the soap and getting it into the carpet. Compared to other similar but more expensive models, I felt like this cleaner did have less suction. I cleaned the carpet twice using 2 tanks of liquid and it didn't fill up the dirty water tank even once. I went several slow passes over the carpet to ensure I was giving it time to suck up the water. I made sure to let the carpet dry a but longer before moving furniture back onto it. Other than that, because of it's size and price tag, I would consider this a great purchase for light jobs cleaning up after pets and kids. May 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It works! Removes stains well We had some very old pet stains on our carpet and had previously tried to use Resolve carpet cleaner in a spray bottle, which didn't fully take out the stains. We tried the Power Path Deluxe on the same stains many months later, and it removed them with just a few swipes. The assembly was very easy, you only need a Phillips screwdriver for 3 screws, so we put it together in about 5 minutes. Definitely vacuum your carpet beforehand, so debris doesn't get stuck in the carpet washer. You can really see the dirt come up after only a couple passes, as the water in the chamber gets dirty. The only negative aspects are that it leaves a little trail of foam residue on the edge of where you last cleaned, which you can easily wipe up. Ours also dribbled a little when left in standing position after we finished cleaning. This is an excellent buy for pet owners, I'd highly recommend it for pet stains. April 30, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A pretty nice equipment for occasional use, for a homeowner Hoover states that its new Power Path Deluxe Carpet Washer covers tough carpet cleaning with Dual Spin Power Brushes. The power of two brushes lift tough, deep down dirt up and out while its 11-3/4 in. widepath nozzle reaches to clean where life happens most. I accept mostly everything they have stated. It is a pretty nice equipment for occasional use for a homeowner and also for unexpected accidents and spills. It does a good job in lifting up dirt from carpet. (please see my video-the lower tank has dirty water). Assembling the main tool was very easy, about 5 minutes; but there was a problem for me to connect the Solution Tube at the Port for the Accessory tool. It took abbot 10 tries in 10 minutes to connect it one time, which, I think is drawback due to bad engineering design. March 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice and light! We have an older Hoover carpet washer and love it. This version is not as big, but just as powerful and gets the job done. I love the extra upholstery and stair cleaning attachments. The major pro to this washer versus the old Hoover we have is that it is much lighter and easier to move from room to room and up and down stairs. The draw back is because it is a little smaller, the dirty water tank needs changed more often. That is the trade off for the smaller, lighter machine. April 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for light cleaning tasks. This cleaner required one of the easiest assemblies I have ever done. Just three screws using a screw driver and that’s it. When fully assembled, it is about 30% lighter than my vacuum and I can easily carry it around from basement to second floor. It is very compact and easy to use. There is absolutely no learning curve for me. I did went through the User Manual just to make sure there isn’t anything I am missing. I am a clean freak and keep my 6 years old carpet very clean. I have been using it in my living and family room area and so far I am happy with its performance. Hand held attachments have been very practical with 9 feet long hose that gives me good reach from top to bottom of my all 13 steps. Its motor is not super charged but the double rollers do compensate that. Now, I would not say that it makes your carpet shine like brand new if you have not been vacuuming and maintaining it on regular basis. I see it a great fit for quick cleaning tasks e.g. some fresh spills or kids playing on the carpet with dirty shoes. Whatever the case might be, address it while its fresh and this cleaner will deliver like a charm. I like the storage bag that stores all attachments and solution bottle easily and the hanger capability is a nice touch. I am happy with this light weight and light duty cleaner, fits well for my needs and I sure recommend it. April 12, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Worked for me and worthy of 3.5 stars. Let me start off by saying that this is not a heavy duty carpet washer / cleaner. It’s plenty good for the usual up keep, lightly soiled carpets and fresh stains. However it will not turn your old, dirty and stained carpet into a new looking one. It’s fairly light and the tanks are somewhat small. I had to empty the dirty one and refill the clean one once (warm water and cleaner solution) to clean a 5 x 8 foot rug. Would have been nice to have larger tanks. It did a decent job cleaning my old basement rug though. The dirty water was proof that the cleaner did its job. In my experience it did not leak anywhere like others have mentioned. Assembly is super simple. The tank holder goes on top of the base and the handle goes on top of the tank holder. There are two tanks that fit inside. Three Philips screws need to be screwed in to hold the parts together – done! Using the carpet washer is also super simple. Add warm water to the top tank and add two caps of the wash liquid inside. Then run the carpet washer back and forth once in each direction while holding the rinse trigger. It is important to know that the wash solution is sprayed while the trigger is held, so make sure to release it after the two runs because it will keep spraying otherwise. I think that’s how some people soaked their carpets while trying to clean them. Just read the instructions! After wetting the area simply go over it back and forth very (very) slowly until no more liquid is being sucked in. Repeat the dry run if necessary. The rug or carpet may still feel damp afterwards but that is just the top layer. It should air dry just fine. I have not yet tried the included accessories for spot cleaning. I do however like the included storage bag for them. The bag has a hook and can be hung for storage on the vacuum or elsewhere. The cord is 20 feet long and has on board storage. I would rate this carpet washer at 3.5 stars if were possible. It isn’t bad, I just don’t think it deserves a full 4. I’ve read some horror reviews about this model, but I haven’t experienced anything awful with it. It clean my old carpet well enough considering it was dirty and in the basement for a while. I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope it doesn’t leak and burn out. In any case, the 1-year warranty from Hoover should be sufficient. April 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect on Area Rugs The Hoover Power Path Deluxe Carpet washer is Great. Very easy to assemble. All you need vis a Philips Screwdriver to attach the handles. I really like the two reservoirs, one for fresh water on top and one for dirty water on bottom. Comes apart very easily to fill or drain. I used it on my area Rugs and what a difference, ( see pictures ) .Comes with two attachments, one for stairs and one for upholstery. Great Carpet Cleaner for the Money. March 25, 2016
