I have 3 small children, the youngest who is 18 months, and she constantly throws food on the carpeted floor in our apartment. (seriously, WHO puts carpet in a dining room?!) The attached pictures are stains of spaghetti sauce, juice, blueberries, vegetables, curry, peanut butter, you name it- from weeks before I purchased the cleaner a few days ago. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it got out pasta sauce and other mystery dark spots. I did not want to continue renting steam vacs and I think this is well worth the money. To me, it's moderately priced- not too high and not at the lowest end. I hope this has a long life, because I will be using this frequently! So, if you have a baby or small children who consistenly spill things, this is a fine steam cleaner.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BBAB EXTREMELY IMPRESSED!
My wife and I moved into a brand new townhouse 2 years ago. The original carpet (very cheap) is still in the house and is not at all resistant to stains. The carpet in the family room has become very soiled over the past 2 years. A few months ago we were paid a visit by a door-to-door salesman trying to sell us a very well known $1500 vacuum/cleaner (K**by). We were given a demonstration and, frankly, not overly impressed with the cleaning ability of the $1500 machine (although its sucking power was quite impressive). At that point I thought if a $1500 cleaner doesn't get rid of the stains, then we would most likely have to replace the carpet with a higher quality, stain resistant carpet.
Well, I'm glad we didn't spend $1500 on that machine, and I'm glad we didn't replace the 2 year old carpet. I purchased the Hoover Steam Vac F5915-100 yesterday and used it last night. It was very easy to assemble and EXTREMELY EASY to use. I am VERY PLEASED with the results. The carpet went from looking like it needed to be replaced to looking like new!
The drying time was very impressive. I finished the job at 9pm and by 11pm the carpet was almost completely dry. This morning, there was absolutely no dampness whatsoever remaining.
I highly recommend this very affordable and very effective product. Even if you only use it once, it pays for itself.
Please see the before and after photos.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RiverRat Minor malfunction but great otherwise
The steam vac was easy to assemble although I left the hose off because it's in the way and annoying. It works great and does everything I need it to do. When setting the dirty water tank back onto the steam vac, care must be taken to make sure it seats properly, otherwise, there will be no suction. Everything you need to know can be found by watching the video on www.hoover.com which beats reading the multi language instruction manual. I owned a steam vac in the past but it was not as easy to use as this model. I bought this for my daughter to use at her fully carpeted house and am glad that I tried it out on my only carpeted room. This steam vac is a good product at an affordable price.

This machine does a good job cleaning rugs for the price paid.
It is of cheap construction and poorly assembled, it appears the manufacturer does not have a quality control staff or they are not doing their job .
The machine arrived with the lever extensions installed incorrectly, making final assembly of the handle impossible and the fluid tube for the upholstery accessory tool arrived damaged in packaging from the factory, although they do have a no hassle guarantee, the problems mentioned were clearly visible and should have been corrected before final packing and shipment.
The sevice life of this machine is questionable??

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MomOfKidsandDogs Pays for itself in one use
I have to get my carpets cleaned at least twice a year with two kids and 2 dogs. Of course the carpet would get stained in between cleanings so I would try and spot clean areas but that wouldn't really work. I read the reivews of this product compared to the $200 one and thought this would be a better buy. So far I am very impressed! It did the job I needed it to do. The carpets look clean and not matted anymore and the house smells fresher too. Unlike rentals, the water tank was light and easy to fill up. It is great for spills or spot clean ups. It was so easy to use and paid for itself in one use. I am very impressed

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by kpiaz09 EXCELLENT!
I bought this carpet cleaner after reading the high reviews it received. I found the assembly to be simple and the directions to be very clear. After using the carpet cleaner, I was so impressed with the results. It was extremely easy to use, fill and empty. I love the fact that it has two separate compartments for clean and dirty water. My carpet looks like it did the day we moved in and I thought that was going to be a hard goal to accomplish given that I have a toddler, a dog, my husband and myself! I love this machine and am so very happy with my purchase. I would highly recommend this carpet cleaner to anyone!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bobmunch64 A very good carpet cleaner and cheaper than a rental
I used to have a previous Hoover rug shampooer and this one is even better! Well made, durable, and really does the job. Plenty of suction to pull out fluids and the brushes do very well at loosening and scrubbing stuff within the top 1/4 inch of the surface.
From experience, I would recommend using Simple Green rather than Hoover's rather anemic shampoo. Just follow the directions on the SG bottle. SG + this machine does a very good job of getting the crud out, AND leaving a soft feel to the carpet. Don't use shampoos with that Teflon stuff, it just leaves a gummy residue, which SG doesn't. FWIW.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by RandySue Great reviews but cheap plastic parts
I have used this cleaner 3 times and although it does a good job, we have had the plastic tabs break off where the hose assembly attaches, and recently the handle release broke. Both areas are on the main plastic assembly. Very poor design. Since it is 4 months out of warranty, I will have to pay to get it fixed. I will bungee cord it together for now to keep it from falling over. Hoover states they have fixed the design on the new ones, but no recall. Do not buy this model.
