This unit does not heat the water. Do NOT use boiling water. It doesnt actually use steam to clean. Hot water with no cleaner does an excellent job of loosening the carpet fibers so the scrub brushes loosen the dirt and then its sucked up with the water. While using the upholstery cleaner I used my hot water heaters hottest setting and the water tube on the upholstery hose expanded and popped off its connector that is used to plug it into the carpet cleaner. A fountain of water went into the air and was sucked into the suction porthole next to the upholstery connection point. The upholstery wand no longer pumps water to its sprayer but I can still clean my carpet. I think suction is used to pressurize the water to spray out the upholstery tool and water was sucked into the pump. Regardless 140deg water with no cleaner cleans my carpet very well. If the carpet cleaner suits unused the water temperature will gradually decrease in the clean water tank. Read Less

Technically yes it can pull water that leaked or was spilled into the carpet. Its better to pull up as much as you can with a shop vac especially if its allot of water or if its dirty water. After pulling up as much as you can then if it was dirty water clean the carpet with the carpet cleaner.

Hi Tomas,
Yes, you may use this machine to remove water from your carpet.
However a carpet cleaner is designed to draw away the cleaning solution and not necessarily dry the carpet.
A shop vac may actually work better.

The machine only dispenses clean water with whatever solution you use onto the carpet. It is extracted into a dirty water container which is easily emptied when full. You will notice that the suction is so good that when your clean liquid is gone, your dirty container has extracted almost as much as you had used to fill the clean water container.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AWESOME better then Servicemaster. Bought it last week after reading all the negative reviews. If i didnt like it HomeDepot return policy is awesome so i had nothing to loose. I just used it for my front hallway and great room. I wish i had taken before / after pictures. I can tell you first hand i do not work for Hoover or HomeDepot. My god I can not believe how great this machine is, 2 dogs carpet 1 year spots ALL gone and the carpet looks brand new again. Do yourself a favor and buy one of these you will be glad you did. Oh and by the way I can not tell you how easy it was to clean up and refill. April 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very surprised I must say that I was completely amazed as to how well this carpet cleaner worked. First of all I don't usually use Home Depot because they wont give vet's a discount like Lowe's does. Having said that I started my search for reviews of the best carpet cleaners, after reading up the many choices out there I found a different Hoover model that I was interested in. Though much more expensive the reviews on it just didn't do it much justice. After looking online at about a dozen sites to get the best price I thought I had it narrowed down, then it happened. I typed in homedepot.com and extended my search there, and what did I find? This little gem here. The reviews on it were astronomically high and the price (on-sale) was only $98. I figured what the heck for 100 bucks how bad could it be. So I snatched up the last one they had along with some cleaning solution. Now these carpets haven't been thoroughly cleaned for quite some time. In-fact they were down right embarrassing to say the least. The job that this cleaner did was spot-on (pun intended). I never thought that it would get the job done as easily as it did. I started cleaning and was instantly amazed, so much so that I had to take before/after pics so people would understand just how well this thing did.... April 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Product! We really love this carpet cleaner and wish we had bought it a long time ago! It's very sturdy, easy to clean and easy to use. I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone. It works great on our carpet and a couple industrial rugs we have covering some wood floor area. It's very quick and easy to clean up so I don't mind getting it out for a quick spot clean-up. Most of the parts are plastic but are made of sturdy plastic which I would assume also keeps the unit light weight enough to move around or pick up. The cord could be a little longer but I just moved it a couple times and it was fine. May 18, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Severly Disapointed Bought this in Feb. of 2015. Used it 3 times and only on area rugs. Stopped working completely. Had to drive 35 miles to take it to a repair center. Got home and they called and said Hoover would not cover it as the pump went bad. Also found out it is a 2013 model. They did contact Hoover again as the book said a 2 year warranty. Hoover said they would pay for parts. Then they emailed them back and said they would not cover anything. We are done with Hoover. Told my wife will go to Lowes and rent one and forget about buying another. Can tell anyone this. Once they started making almost everything overseas the quality went down the drain. May 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does what professional carpet cleaners couldn't I was not expecting a lot from this cleaner, but I was pleasantly surprised. I have had professional cleaners in my home who left large areas of dark, dirty carpet. One time using this cleaner took all of that away. I was more than a bit shocked. I never expected it to do such a good job. Please see photo. This is looking down the wall. You can clearly see the difference between what was cleaned and what was not yet. The only dirt left is what is up against the wall. The other color variations in the carpet are from shadowing, not dirt. I highly recommend this product. December 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent results on our home carpets and car floor mats We picked this carpet cleaner up in Home Depot's pre Thanksgiving sale just over a year ago and have been very impressed with the results on both our home carpets and the floor mats from our cars. The cleaner is easy to use, comes with some useful attachments and produces better results than the old Bissel carpet cleaner that it replaced. We did buy the hand held spin scrub accessory to use with the accessory hose to deal with some very dirty car mats however this isn't really necessary and you can save yourself the money. In practice, the nozzle that is supplied with the cleaner is more than up to the task of removing ingrained dirt. The spin scrub hand nozzle accessory really doesn't revolve that well to make it any use. Using the cleaner is pretty straightforward and it comes with a bottle of Hoover's own brand carpet shampoo. We used this shampoo as well as the ZEP brand extractor shampoo with good results. You simply put warm clean water in the upper container along with the right amount of cleaner solution and off you go. Once you have passed over the carpets or mats with the cleaning solution, you empty out any remaining cleaning solution and use some warm clean water to rinse the remaining cleaner out of the carpet and just let it dry. The dirty water collects in the lower container which is easy to remove and empty. I particularly like that you can unclip the top and bottom halves of the dirty water container to clean it out since the heavier dirt particles will settle at the bottom of the container and this makes it easy to rinse them out. As some users have noted, if you leave the cleaner while emptying the container, some of the dirty water can drip onto the carpet through the brush nozzle so it pays to have the cleaner sitting on a towel or a hard floor immediately after you have used it to avoid dirtying up the carpet. We had the same issue on our Bissel cleaner where it would drop dirty water when it was left standing after use. The pictures I have attached are before/after pictures of some particularly badly soiled car mats from one of our cars. They hadn't been cleaned in years and had coffee, soda etc. spilled on the over time. In this case, we used the hand nozzle to clean them. In some areas I used an old toothbrush and some ZEP purple degreaser from a spray bottle (NOT mixed into the carpet cleaner solution) to get the deep stains out. I also went against the recommended instructions and soaked the mats in some very dirty areas using the hand nozzle. Because the car mats are backed with rubber, the water doesn't soak through and will 'pool' which makes it easy to suction out of the pile. You can actually see the dirty brown water pushing ahead of the nozzle as your sucking it out. I cleaned these mats three times to get them properly clean and as you can see, despite 20 years of use, they came up close to as new. If you decide to use purple degreaser instead of carpet shampoo solution on any stubborn spots, you will need to give it an extra rinse and it will be evident that there is more rinsing needed as the degreaser will be white and frothy in the suction nozzle as it is being rinsed. Once this white froth is no longer present in the suction nozzle as you pass over the carpet with the rinse water, the carpet is clean. January 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My new best friend! Had the unit for about a month now. We adopted a dog who isn't properly housebroken, so really needed some help. I had been renting steam cleaners from Home Depot regularly, and love the power of the big machines. But since purchasing the Hoover Turbo Scrub, I wish I hadn't waiting so long to buy! This thing is incredibly easy to use, and really does the job. Great suction power, so it doesn't take the carpet too long to dry afterwards. I am addicted to it, and can't believe the dirt that comes out of the carpets, even now that I regularly steam clean. Purchased it on sale and it has paid for itself at least twice over instead of renting. Highly recommend! April 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great investment if you have pets Decided on this purchase after evaluating the cost and usage per year vs a carpet cleaning service for one year. $15/mth (turbo+liquid) vs estimated $75/mth professional service. Since I have a pet, it was a no brainer. Using it for a few months and I am pleased with this product. May 17, 2016
