You can use Hot Shot Kitchen Bug Killer as a space spray or as a surface spray. If you're spraying food-contacting surfaces, though, make sure you wash them after treating.

I have been using this product for a number of years in the same room as two of my birds with no harmful effects to them. Of course I am very careful not to spray too close to them. I use it in my kitchen around the sink area and where the fruit flies seem to be. Also use it around the bathroom sink etc.

Answer:
It's probably safe to eat, if you got a little on food (I've done it without incident); but I wouldn't make it a common practice.

Answer:
If this spray got on food, you should dispose of the food. Before spraying, you should remove or cover exposed food and drinking water and remove or cover dishes, utensils, food-processing equipment and food-preparation surfaces, or wash them before use.

It says to cover food and utensils before spraying, so it's not safe to eat. It can be used in the kitchen, but you need to cover anything that will touch food and food as well.

14 oz. Aerosol Kitchen Bug Killer is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kills Bugs With Botany This insect spray is great and may be used indoors and around food products. There is virtually no odor and definitely no offensive 'spray odor.' The spray is very effective and efficient.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This stuff is so good, when the stores stopped carrying it, I had to go find it online! Great product! It is made with "botanical" insecticides (pyrethrins), in combination with a botanical agent (piperonyl butoxide) that prevents bugs from being able to neutralize the poison contained in the insecticide. NET RESULT: The buggers get a high dose of poison that sticks with them long enough to take them out. It's not "completely" harmless to humans (so I would advise against spraying the product directly on your food, or into your younger brother's mouth), but it's toxicity is sufficiently low that it can be sprayed in and around food prep areas. It is MUCH more effective at killing bugs than the "ecological," lemongrass oil -based I purchased in the store (which you could probably get away with spraying onto your food); it doesn't smell as nice, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bug and ant spray ever Disenchanted with numerous bug and ant sprays for inside. Although now they no longer carry it in-store. Kills on instant contact and smells great. Best inside spray on the market.

As this contains botanicals, I had hoped that it was safe for use with pets and children. It warns that it is not. Thus, I cannot see the advantage to using it in the kitchen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great!!! Been having a fruit fly problem for the past week or so, with no luck getting rid of them until I tried this product. After the first day, I went from having a swarm to just a few lingering flies. Due to the flies life cycle, you have to use the spray for a couple days but it's now day 4and I think they're all gone!!
