My first one has been used for 3 years and suddenly out of power. At first, I thought it was the thermostat problem and checked all 3 of them. One of the 3 has infinite current resistance, i thought this thermostat is bad and bought a new one (thermostat). however, the new one has the same prob and it turned out to be that this thermostat should be like this.
We do not know what the problem is. bring in a repairman will cost half of the micorwave and the it has been greasy after 3 yrs of usage. So we decided to replace it with exact the same model. The new one just came in and i will see how long it will last.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bethypoo Stops working after 2-3 years
I am on my second one and once again it works fine and just stops heating the food. First time i just replaced it with another one as it matches my stove. Now its been 2 years and this one just stopped heating also. Brought in a repair man and he says its the Magnitron which is very expensive. This cost me $79.95 for a repair man to tell me this. I will be buying a new microwave and not this GE/Hotpoint. I'm wondering if the others that gave this item a good rating changed their minds after 2-3 years. I feel a microwave should last at least 5-6 years. I don't reccommend this.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by AngryAggie Came with my apartment... Has issues
I'm sure that this product would be fine if the plastic attached to the motor causing the plate to spin wasn't completely broken off the motor. I have no idea how that is even possible, but it causes a literal "hotpoint" in food and heat pads. It burns almost anything we put in it.

Magnetron goes out after a few years. I've replaced my magnetron twice in the past 5 years. You only know the magnetron is bad when food suddenly stops heating. It's a cheaper microwave. Guess you get what you pay for.

After ten years my Hotpoint microwave died. Wanting to keep things uniform in the kitchen, I looked for and found the replacement model here on HomeDepot.com. It arrived quickly, well packaged and in perfect condition. Because I had the ten-year-old version of the same microwave, the swap was easy as we didn't even have to re-install the support bracket or anything else...everything was basically the same. EXCEPT the power cord does not come out in exactly the same spot on top so you'll have to have a saw ready on hand to cut another hole if you have the same type of set up. The microwave works well and looks nice, although I think the quality is slightly lesser than its predecessor...the door is a bit too light weight and feels kind of cheap but you cannot beat the price on this microwave!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HappyDayze Very Much Appreciated Christmas Gift!
Received as a gift from youngest son, for Christmas. Our older, Whirlpool OTR microwave had died. He, and I installed it early Christmas morning before my wife, his Mom, got up. She was really surprised, and thrilled to have a new microwave! i forgot to re-adjust the blower, for recirculate (my fault). No one noticed it... Next morning, i remedied the fix....So far it works just fine! Thank-You son, and Home Depot! i am, HappyDayze!

The fan and latch are noisy compared to the one that was replaced (same brand).

After install, I noticed that the control board seemed loose and felt cheap. Next visit to HD, I saw the display model was the same. Exactly one year and 4 days later- it's dead, and of course it had a 1 year warranty. I rated it as a one because zero wasn't a choice. Don't waste your time or money on this piece of garbage.
