After having had it a year, here are my observations.
Some say it's a bit loud on the rinse cycle -- it is. However, the rinse cycle runs at very high rpm.
It does make some click/clack noises. They're not LOUD, just that you can hear them.
It went off balance once. It was because I had really overloaded it.
It does run TRUE HOT WATER. Amazing in a newer washer. Great for towels.
The WARM water is truly warm. Not just lukewarm or slightly above cold.
On Warm water setting, it fills up Fast. But on hot, it takes several more minutes, fills up fairly quickly on cold but not as fast as warm.
You can ADD MORE WATER after it has filled. To do this, turn the knob to reset and hold it there, the water will keep filling.
When you set the dial, if you set it too far down on the beginning of the cycle, the hot water function won't work. If you set it to Heavy, if it's too far down to the beginning of the cycle. Weird, but just something to be aware of. I thought I was gaining extra time on the wash cycle by having it start further down. I attached a picture on which I drew an arrow to show what I'm talking about. But if you're not getting hot water that would be why.
I'm particular about my clothes (as most women are I think) and I don't have trouble with delicate items. It also rinses very well. I always thought I had to do an extra rinse cycle to get all the soap out. What with the water conservation issues I would check the water to see if extra soap was left in and it wasn't so I stopped doing that with the exception of large towel loads.
I could not be happier with this machine. I saw the posts for those that arrived DOA or broke down shortly afterwards, that is sooooo angering and dissapointing but it doesn't seem to be the norm for this washer from all the other reviews. And you know that usually people only review when it's lousy, if it works they forget about it. I highly recommend this machine.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by SusyQ Good value, decent quality, has an exceptionally large load capacity for it's size.
This washer is a good deal. It does not have a lot of features, but that isn't a problem for us. We like appliances that do not have a lot of 'bells and whistles' that can cause problems. The machine washes very large loads at a time which saves both time and water. The clothes come out clean. We really like the fact that it is quiet. We've only had it for about a month and so far it seems to be a great value for a simple appliance.

I bought my washer in November and have done many loads with no problems whatsoever. I read a lot of reviews on the HE machines before I decided to go with this basic washer. Ultimately I decided this washer will be cheaper to fix than an HE when something breaks. The washing basin is larger than I expected and could easily fit a queen comforter. My clothes are clean after being washed, however they are never heavily soiled since I work in an office. It is true that the actual wash cycle is very quiet, not like the older washers. If I shut the laundry room door I forget that its running and I live in a small condo. I have been washing my expensive hand wash/dry clean only tops (in those mesh bags) on the permanent press cycle and nothing has been damaged yet. The water level fills basically to the top on the super cycle and there is no issue with opening the lid to check on things during any part of the cycle. I like to use a bit of extra water and select the power rinse setting to make sure all of the detergent gets out of my clothes. Overall I am pleased with this purchase. Ordering and delivery from home depot was easy and seamless.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by LoveIt This product is basic, but perfect!
I love, love, love this machine. It is very basic, it doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles as other reviews have mentioned, but hey, that is less things to break. It is exceedingly quiet. It is very gentle on my clothing, I haven't had anything come out misshapen, or ruined. It gets everything clean, and can fit pretty large amounts of things in there. It is pretty well balanced. I live on the second floor, and want to be conscientious when I do my laundry so that it doesn't disturb my neighbors. The washer doesn't bounce around, or cause a huge raucous during the spin cycle. I would absolutely recommend this to others who need something to get the job done. Excellent value.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by MrWhy BANGING AROUND - FRESH OUT OF BOX - DO NOT BUY (watch video!)
(See picture and video in this message) I just received this washing machine this afternoon. The Home Depot delivery persons brought it in, hooked it up to the water supply and did a quick rinse and drain - the washer drum did not have any clothes. When I asked if we should test it with clothes, I was told it was not necessary. They were in a big hurry to leave. Upon adding 2 thin bedsheets, 4 thin pillowcases, about 2 small towels, 4 T-shirts and the drum was barely half full, I operated it and immediately noticed the drum was leaning all the way to the left side and touching against the inner wall. I was skeptical but thought it would realign itself as it operates. It didn't. As it began to function, there was the strong swooshing sound which I found to be rather unusual and would necessitate getting used to and thought it would go away after a few operations. However, as the rinse cycle was reached the tilted drum began spinning and was getting snagged on the rubber suspension straps. The noise was unbearable I immediately stopped it knowing this is not a "normal" thing as the GE Hotpoint Customer Service person informed me. I went to Home Depot immediately after to complain and they informed me they would contact GE to see if they could send someone to "fix it". I had very high hopes for this machine after all the good reviews I read. Sadly, I either received a lemon or they are all substandard merchandise. It appears to be flimsily put together to the point where the control panel opens up at the seams when lightly pushed against. I do not recommend this machine and I will report as to how Home Depot and GE takes care of this problem. Extremely disappointed - prove to us you can do better...
