Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Low-cost alternative for large picture frames We wanted to frame some large mirrors. Frame shops would have cost hundreds for roughly 72" x 30". I used this stock for a small fraction of that. I would have liked it even more if Home Depot carried more than just the one style. It's hard to take a decent photo of a mirror in the daytime -- but you get the idea. To be safe I started with a primer coat of Kilz(TM). Then I used Martha Stewart Crafts(TM) "Pure Platinum" metallic, slightly thinned. It was overlaid with a wash-coat of India (drafting) ink that was rubbed off to achieve the antique silver look. I'm pleased with the outcome. July 7, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good looking frame moulding Good looking wood, great recess size to hold the framed canvas in place. The only problem I had with this material is that in both shipments I received 1 out of 2 pieces was always warped, which was very frustrating. September 6, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by 1-7/8 W moulding This moulding was very hard to work with. Two of the three pieces received were not straight. This supposed to be a hardwood product was very soft. Very hard to cut glue-able corner joints. The product was cut utilizing a miter saw with an 100-tooth blade. If a standard 40-tooth blade had been utilized, joints would have much worst. All joints had to be glued twice because the wood soaked up the glued. The product did take a stain well. September 6, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Home Depot NOT providing CRITICAL "Rabbet Cut" dimensions on all picture frame mouldings On ALL picture mouldings a critical dimension to list is the "rabbet cut", which is the two dimensions retaining the picture frame. Often the width of the cut out for the picture frame is omitted, however the depth of the "rabbet cut" is ALWAYS provided. Not knowing the depth of the "rabbet cut" makes the advertisement useless. The "rabbet cut" for oil or acrylic paintings must accommodate: the wood frame of an oil painting, two layers of canvas with the occasional wrinkle, the matting (up to 3 layers of material), the glazing (glass), and a minimum 1/8" gap for the retaining fasteners. The "rabbet cut" for paper prints, awards, or certificates must accommodate: the paper, backing board, mounting tape or other paper to backing board fastener like mastic (thinner), the matting (up to 3 layers of material), the glazing (glass), and a minimum 1/8" gap for the retaining fasteners. The needs for framing dimensions of the "rabbet cut" are specific to the application. NOT listing the dimension is like not providing a method to purchase a product. This product cannot be used because the Home Depot online sales marketing team and webmaster do not understand the critical nature of this dimension related to the customer, and to sales. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap, Convenient Solution After purchasing more than a dozen unframed paintings online, I began to scour the thrift shops for used frames at reasonable prices. OK for standard sizes, but needed off sizes as well. Found this molding and ordered a piece to try it out. Arrived in perfect condition, and the resulting finished product, using just a miter saw and a clamp and some paint and wax metallic finish, was just want I wanted. I'll use this brand of molding for all my artwork from now on. February 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Quality Solid Wood I ordered an assortment of styles and sizes of picture frame moulding to make into picture frames for art under glass. All pieces arrived safely and as advertised. No blemishing, but two were slightly bowed from the packaging. Solid wood, as advertised. Easy to cut with a hand saw. Light weight but dense wood. Rabbet depth on all sizes is approx. 1/4 inch. This is perfect for use as a picture frame with glass, but is not deep enough for a canvas (without sticking out the back). My only complaint: Delivery time from manufacturer is several weeks, and these are not available in the store; I wish I could get it faster. April 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Frame Moulding Good product. Arrives straight and undamaged. Made attractive frames November 3, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful framing. I love the picture framing. We're still learning how to cut for the specific size of picture but with practice I'm sure we'll overcome. August 25, 2015
