Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low-cost alternative for large picture frames We wanted to frame some large mirrors. Frame shops would have cost hundreds for roughly 72" x 30". I used this stock for a small fraction of that. I would have liked it even more if Home Depot carried more than just the one style. It's hard to take a decent photo of a mirror in the daytime -- but you get the idea. To be safe I started with a primer coat of Kilz(TM). Then I used Martha Stewart Crafts(TM) "Pure Platinum" metallic, slightly thinned. It was overlaid with a wash-coat of India (drafting) ink that was rubbed off to achieve the antique silver look. I'm pleased with the outcome.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Home Depot NOT providing CRITICAL "Rabbet Cut" dimensions on all picture frame mouldings On ALL picture mouldings a critical dimension to list is the "rabbet cut", which is the two dimensions retaining the picture frame. Often the width of the cut out for the picture frame is omitted, however the depth of the "rabbet cut" is ALWAYS provided. Not knowing the depth of the "rabbet cut" makes the advertisement useless. The "rabbet cut" for oil or acrylic paintings must accommodate: the wood frame of an oil painting, two layers of canvas with the occasional wrinkle, the matting (up to 3 layers of material), the glazing (glass), and a minimum 1/8" gap for the retaining fasteners. The "rabbet cut" for paper prints, awards, or certificates must accommodate: the paper, backing board, mounting tape or other paper to backing board fastener like mastic (thinner), the matting (up to 3 layers of material), the glazing (glass), and a minimum 1/8" gap for the retaining fasteners. The needs for framing dimensions of the "rabbet cut" are specific to the application. NOT listing the dimension is like not providing a method to purchase a product. This product cannot be used because the Home Depot online sales marketing team and webmaster do not understand the critical nature of this dimension related to the customer, and to sales.
