How much would I need to do a house 2831 sq feet?

Asked by: Jen
i would measure each room and then calculate the number of pieces needed. i doubt every room in the house would take crown but a room by room approach is how I would tackle the quantity of product needed.

What is the projection (installed height) on this product?

Asked by: Bob
According to the House of Fara website, the board is 4.5 inches from end to end. That would get you a projection of what, roughly 3 inches? Also depends on whether you have it installed as 38 or 52 spring angle.

3/4 in. x 4-1/2 in. x 8 ft. MDF Crown Moulding is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Install Once you Figure out Molding Jig Spring Angle This is my first time installing crown molding. I replaced my entire houses baseboards with the same type of MDF material and it turned out to be quite easy. The trickiest part about crown molding is the cuts. I started in a room with 45 and 90 degree inside and outside corners and it proved to be frustrating at first, but once I bought a Molding Jig it made things much easier. I would suggest starting with a small room like a powder room or office and work your way to bigger rooms as you get better at the cuts. Looks great once installed!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The pieces are aesthetically pleasing. However, being made of... The pieces are aesthetically pleasing. However, being made of MDF, they are easily damaged when being shipped or installed with finishing nails and a hammer. I'd recommend buying a little extra to replace anything that gets damaged.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for the "real" look. We used this for our basement and kitchen shelves/cabinets. If you are painting your cabs a solid color this works perfectly. Easy to cut, easy to install, easy to paint. Literally took a couple hours to finish everything. Since it's mdf, it's pliable and lightweight. You'd never know it wasn't real wood because it's up at the ceiling. You can save a lot of money by getting this instead of paying more for the same look...and who cares if it's "durable" nobody touches crown molding so it doesn't need to be that sturdy. Save your money and buy this mdf moulding. Got a dramatic look for a few dollars--what a steal!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Time Crown Installer I always wanted crown molding in my home. I didnt want to pay the cost to have it done so I've been watching you tube for almost 2 yrs and finally got the nerve to try it. I started small with the powder room that is 36 x 90. I chose the House of Fara because of the size and clean lines and price...its somewhat in the mid range as far as cost is concerned for me anyway... it seems to be open stock too, so I can take my time and do one room at a time. Mitering was not easy at all...3 good pieces and one upside down...what frustration just when you think you have it I chose to use the corner blocks and not miter. What took me 12 hrs of hitting and missing...I completed in about 3 with the corner blocks which do not require mitering. I'm going to use them in all the rooms of my house...and I'm sure it will only take a few hrs for each room. This was truly a learning experience to remember and the House of Fara crown Moulding and House of Fara Corner Blocks look absolutely stunning even if its a powder room.
