Questions & Answers

How far apart to you put the poles?

Asked by: Chris
I bought one pole, using the garage wall as the opposite pole. Distance is 30', i.e., requires periodic tightening of the lines. When you use a wall as the opposite "pole," you need to allow 3-5' for the plants growing against the building as you can't hang things over the plants unless they don't hang down very far.

Only one end or both ends???

Is this for a half a clothes line??? or does this come with both sides needed?
Asked by: greenmountainVT
This Steel T-Assembly is ONE side only. You need to purchase two, as well as the line and clothes spins.

No. This line had to be cemented in concrete

Steel T-Assembly (4-Piece) is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 46.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap Poles bent when they had the line attached to them because they were three separate pieces

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really good for the money. Assembled and installed a pair of these in about two hours. We've been using the clotheslines for a couple of weeks and they work just fine. Invest in high quality line and re-tighten often to reduce sagging. Look up how to tie a taut line hitch so you can adjust tension whenever needed. It wasn't necessary for me to use concrete to set the posts. Dug the holes the required depth and about 10 inches in diameter, then used a mixture of our clay soil and softball sized stones tamped in with a spud bar. This way the posts can be dug out and moved if necessary.

After the cement starts to harden, twisting the base around to have the top section in alignment is difficult. The height is nice. Sheets and blankets less likely to touch the ground. Also, when using plastic coated wire, the bolts in the middle of the cross member tend to scrap or ding the coating when installing, probably causing premature wire failure due to rain getting to the metal wire core.

If you are putting in two posts - When you cement in the bottom section of the posts, BE SURE to have them turned in the right direction so the other post sections line up for the crosspieces on top to be parallel. The directions do not mention this point, and if you cement them in wrong, the other sections will not line up and you are screwed!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from clothesline for yard overall I'm happy to have them, I've wanted a clothesline in my yard for awhile. easy to assemble I just wish the T or the arms were a little longer to put on more lines. we strung up 6 lines and overall good spacing, but would've liked to string up more or space out the 6 we have.

We live on the coast and needed to replace the old pole, which had rusted through at the bottom. I was able to replace the bolts that secure the "T" top with galvanized, but I haven't found any place to buy replacement galvanized or at least stainless eyebolts to hold the lines.

I had to remove the top 2 pieces since hurricane Harvey was on its way to the Rio Grande Valley and Corpus Christi area. The pole should include a couple of bolts and screws to secure the 3 pieces together to avoid the pieces from coming apart.

It's long enough to bury and still stand tall enough. The T bar is too short and the lines are too close together but overall it works for my use of only hanging out bedding.
