Is it a free standing clothesline? Or do one have secure it in dirt and concrete?

Asked by: SB
It has to be secured in ground. Dig a hole to the required depth (if you will hang a lot of laundry it would need to be 2 feet deep), stand the pole in it, pour in a bag of ready mix concrete, and backfill with dirt. Use a level to make sure the post is straight and use a water hose to completely wet the concrete. Make sure the post is straight again, and let stand 24 hours before using.

No need to own an electric dryer. They met my expectations of affordability and install. If you keep in mind the following, you'll have a good, sturdy clothesline. Make sure to dig hole deep enough according to instructions. I used a 60# bag of concrete for each pole. Let them set up for 3 days before stretching clothesline rope super tight. They don't become super tight and sturdy until your clothesline rope is pulled tight. These come in 3 sections. I live in a older retirement community that has some clotheslines that look like they were built like a tank. These are decently acceptable as far as weight and structure but like many things, "they just don't make them like they used to."

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fair price, but lacking in quality I expected heavier walled tubing, and that is my sole reservation at this point. I am fairly certain that this Tee assembly will last me until I die!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job This is made of good quality galvanized steel. But, it comes in 4 pieces. The 3 main post pieces just slip into one another and are not very stable. My husband put 4 screws into each connection to try to strengthen it. But, when I hang clothes on the line, the posts tilt inwards to the point where I have to duck to get under the lines (I'm 5'2" tall). We used turnbuckles on the line so we could get them as tight as possible, so I don't think its the line stretching. After I take the clothes down the lines are still straight and taut. We put the posts in 18 inches of concrete, so I think they are installed as required. So our next option is to put some additional posts in to help hold these upright. But, it is good quality material, you may just want to make sure they are tall enough to allow for the sagging.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Goin' Green A very sturdy product and tall enough so that clothes, including sheets and towels, don't touch the ground when drying, it should give many years of service and save on electric dryer expense.
