CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful dollhouse! This is only my second dollhouse, but I have been following others on the internet just under a year now. I have had a real blast constructing this baby. It has been slow going as I only work on it 2 or 3 hours a week. My biggest advise is to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS carefully. I made the mistake of sanding after the first coat of clear finish on the floors, not good. Live and learn. What takes the longest time is sanding each slat after the first coat or primer coat. It is tedious but well worth the time spent. It was a lot of fun choosing the color scheme, I went with buttercup yellow, dark blue, baby blue and cream. Look up the Alison at the Real Good Toys website, they are the manufacturer, they have several pictures of the house with different color schemes. The construction itself is a piece of cake. All the walls have groves for the floors to fit into. The floors are already scored and painted like wood, you just have to seal them with a clearcoat. Everything lines up and becomes square. It is made from mdf, not plywood which makes it extra easy to square up. Buy plenty of masking tape, 3 or 4 rolls, you will need it to hold parts together while they dry. Be sure and use Aileens Tacky glue - I used clear. I was not happy with the layout of the second story, what Southern Belle with any kind of "grooming" would be caught climbing out a window to sit on the veranda to sip her mint juleps? Thus, I purchased a two door French door and cut the window hole (the one closest to the tower) a bit wider to accept the new door. I also purchased a fancier main floor door ...one with an oval glass in the center. I am also going to try my hand at running electric lights. Wish me luck!! It comes with very good instructions and if you have any questions at all, you can e-mail Real Good Toys and they will e-mail you back. I have even spoken with the gals in the office, they are very knowledgeable, check out their facebook page!! August 26, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good value Just received as a Christmas present (my hobby) so have not built it yet. Working on a sibling,i.e., MDF. Secret is to hide the MDF so it is not visible.....wall paper, bass wood, trim,...very doable and allows for your own creativity. I like making floors out of bass wood and coming up with different patterns. Have gotten better at faux marble floors.....from wood. MDF is easier to work with than the ones stamped out of splintery luan plywood. January 1, 2013
