What all is needed to complete?

Hammer, phillips head screw driver, glue, poster paint and a few extra nails. The kit comes with the correct number of nails, but the challenge for the 4 year old is driving them straight

Bird House Kit is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 110.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Birdhouse Nice kit, but not pictured accurately. Finished birdhouse has much larger opening on both sides, which results in a house that is TOO open for birds.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bird House Kit This bird house kit sold on line is exactly the same as the free kits that are given to children on children's project days at the retail stores.

With some trepidation, I considered the kits as an at home substitute. We all were pleasantly surprised and the kids, ages 4 and 7 could not wait to begin building and painting. The houses a well designed and with a few challenges, each child was able to assemble them and paint them. They then did some color decorating to individualize them. The great thing was that they were proud of what they had accomplished and each showed their bird house, off. One of Home Depots best ideas.

They were for my special education students to assemble in the classroom in the Chesterfield County area of Virginia. Three of the birdhouses didn't have enough hardware to assemble, and three of them had split wood when it arrived. I had one that was missing a side and one that was missing a top. They are inexpensive....10 dollars, but after I bought paint, brushes, polyurethane, and a couple other supplies, I was in to Home Depot for better than $300 bucks. We were going to use this as maybe a fundraiser for next year for our special education department and look at seeing if we could make a hundred of them. If we could make 10 dollars off of each we could build up our budget for our department to have field trips and such, but after this experience, I am not sure that this is a good idea.

The goal is to teach them basic skills i.e. Using a hammer, screw driver and tape measure etc. The bird houses were perfect and everyone got to take theirs home afterwards. Any other ideas would be appreciated

I ended up cutting new pieces to enclose it. I'm not sure what the purpose of this was, but I have not seen other bird houses built like this. I also used heavier nails. Upside, my Pre-K class enjoyed building it with me.

I was very satisfied with them and have already assembled and painted them, and installed them on the side of my garage. This morning birds are already checking them out.
