Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AnneC Sturdy and attractive
These unfinished crates are attractive and reasonably solid. They're compressor-stapled together but the side bars are thicker and sturdier than your standard apple crate. Can be sanded and then stained or painted for a finished look but are reasonable attractive pine in their unfinished state. (They do not require sanding for basic use, but definitely haven't undergone a superfine grain so I wouldn't recommend putting them to use in a place where they will be actively touched/could splinter over time without doing your own additional sanding.) Natural variation occurs due to the wood, of course. Stack well enough due to thickness of sides but do not interlock.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by icheckemout Quality was better than I expected
After reading some of the reviews, I was surprised at the high quality of these crates. I bought one to use as a magazine crate in the living room.
The construction of mine was solid, but I did add a finishing nail between the staples in each board just to add some longevity to the box, since it might get heavy as it fills up. I distressed the wood a little then sanded lightly & stained it with Minwax Provincial stain. I'm going to add some felt pads to the bottom so it won't scratch up the floor over time. The carrying handles are nicely done.
Several have asked inside dimensions, here they are:
Length - 16 3/8"
Width - 11 3/4"
Height - 9 1/8"
Thickness of side boards - about 5/16"
Thickness of end boards - about 3/4"
Overall, I'd recommend these highly and you won't find a better price on a wooden crate of this size and quality.....they're Made in USA.

I bought the crate for my vinyl records and its almost big enough but not quite. Add another half inch to the design, this is a popular use case.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by chdone Review of 18 in. x 12.5 in. x 9.5 in. Large Wood Crate
The crates are well constructed, but the wood is not sanded and has many splinters on the slats and the hand holes are rough. I was not expecting a totally finished product but some of the splinters pull away from the slat. I would still recommend the product but be prepared to do some sanding and finish work.

I waited until these were on sale as I needed to buy a number of them. Was totally worth the wait! I stained them a dark cherry and used these as shelving for an open area we had in our dining. SO happy with the result.

The crates were a reasonable solution to elevating a large printer in a dorm room while also providing some additional storage. I has similar crates in college for vinyl albums. They are not decorative but functional.
