I'm thinking of using these crates as little seats for my balcony. Are they strong enough for someone to sit on them?

Answer:
Not sturdy at all. They're flimsy and and bend with slight pressure. I cant believe people are using these poor quality crates to build coffee tables.

Answer:
I wouldn't use these (especially the largest one) as seats for adults. Kids might be able to get away with sitting on the medium or small one, but they are not very sturdy and are pretty rough. Without sanding, you would likely get splinters with prolonged contact.

Answer:
It's ok. Pretty small staples are keeping it together. I would put anything too heavy on it. I added my own extra staples to make it a little more secure. It's not 'rickety', just a little cheap.

Answer:
NO WAY. I bought four of these to use as planters and someone walking by accidentally kicked into one and their foot went completed into it. They are not made to be sat on, made from some kind of 1/4 inch soft wood. They didn't even last a year before they fell apart completely.

Answer:
This would work if the items were not too heavy or you don't pack it full. They are pretty light weight and break easily. Mine didn't last one season for magazines. One I accidentally kicked and blew out the whole side. Two slats broke and I wasn't even wearing shoes. The other ones I used as planters out on my deck. I think one fell apart by itself, and one is still in use since last year.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Makes a great coffee table. Great Value, easy to work with for the application September 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great buy! Many uses! I bought this crate and stained it using a walnut colored gel stain. I also purchased 2 wood shelf brackets and stained them. I mounted the brackets to the wall, then I placed the crate on top and added 2 screws to keep it mounted to the wall as well, so it doesn't slide around on the brackets and it can hold more weight in the crate. The end result was a great, new towel shelf for my bathroom! This crate is sturdy, we'll made and just as the description says it is. Glad I purchased this one! December 13, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Built Coffee Tables... My wife and I saw a photo online of a coffee table made out of crates. We wanted to build some just like it. We couldn't find crates anywhere local to buy. Went to Homedepot.com and found what we wanted. I was worried that shipping would damage them. They came with out a scratch and in perfect condition. The crates are good quality but each one is a little different in size by 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch. Gave the tables we made some character. Over all great product and has many uses. Strong, well built, and works great. February 4, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Super for creative coffee table The crates are perfect for indoor tables and storage ideas. We required a slightly bigger table for our space so we used 6 of these. Photos attached if anyone wants to see. They are slightly fragile specially when you are drilling screws through them to join them together so need to be careful. That is the reason I took 1 star off. Otherwise, it looks fabulous. I also used the red wheels from Home Depot and they are stellar. Cant write enough good things about them! April 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for DIY Like others who have posted reviews, I bought these crates to create a new coffee table. They worked perfectly! 4 crates, a piece of plywood, 4 legs and 4 threaded plates to screw the legs into....two alternating wood stain colors and two coats of poly = a beautiful new coffee table! I plan to buy one more and create a matching side table to sit between two accent chairs. I absolutely love the way everything turned out. February 6, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 18 IN X 12.5 IN. X 9.5 IN. WOOD CRATE x4 Love them, for my new coffee table. Will be quite the conversation piece in my Living room December 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent for DIYs!! We bought 8 of these crates (in-store) to make small furniture for our son's "big boy" room. We made 2 nightstands and a bookcase, finishing them by giving a "distressed" and aged look. We are so pleased with the results! For the price, these are incredible. February 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by These crates have all sorts of uses!!! I used these to build custom library shelving for my house. I combined them with Home Depot stair treads to create really nice and unusual shelving that is very stable, if pretty heavy. I like them best downstairs, and I only had to stack them with the stair treads on top of crates, then more crates and more stair treads till I got the height of shelves I wanted. No nailing or anything like that. An entire wall unit like this went up in about 10 minutes. It makes a great wall unit, and the weight of it keeps it stable. Very customizable and pretty if you want a rustic look. December 8, 2015
