Will this extension download work with a Petersford 52 in. LED Brushed Nickel Ceiling Fan? I have a vaulted ceiling, and the brushed nickel 4-1/2 in. downrod with 3/4 in. Dia that came with the fan is not long enough for the blades to clear the ceiling. This fan is a HomeDepot "Home Decorators" collection. Model #14425.

The only reason I'm here is to hopefully stop the inane Home Depot emails begging for a review. Downrod good, emails bad. There's your review.

It is durable, reasonable, and fits perfectly. I bought both the 12 and 18 inch, knowing that with the easy return at Home Depot with a receipt, I can compare both at home and return one that didn't suit my need. I have just had it installed.

We were installing the ceiling fan on a vaulted ceiling, so the 12" brushed nickel extention rod was just what we needed to install the fan so that the blades did not hit the ceiling. It looks great.

Construction is good, finish is good but slightly different than my fan (Gardinier 52 in. LED Brushed Nickel Ceiling Fan), but given that it's not a Hunter fan this should be expected. Shouldn't be an issue. The only issue is when you switch over the 'ball mount' and ground strap hardware from the OEM 6.5" unit that comes with the fan and the 12" unit being reviewed here, I noticed that while the holes and pin placement is the same, the screw size for the ground strap screw and the 'ball mount' hold down screw are NOT THE SAME. The Hunter has a SMALLER screw size than the OEM unit (guess it's better than being larger...). Not a biggie, but it did stop me from finishing the project last night. Two simple fixes: one is to go to the fastener section and get the same screw length but smaller size to fit the Hunter fan, or if you really want to keep the Gardinier fan screws, you'll need to tap out a larger hole. The folks on Chat didn't know it so I thought I'd bring it up. Basically when changing brands this can occur. Again, not a biggie but I wanted folks to know.
