I purchased 2 rods with 2 Home Decorators Outdoor ceiling fans. There were 3 issues that cost me an hour of work and getting the proper screws.
1. The tapped hole for the ground wire was smaller than the grounding screw supplied with the short rod of the fan. I had to locate 2 screws that would fit the hole (more on that later).
2. The hole for the set screw was offset by 1/16" of an inch, so I had to file the pin holes so the set screw would fit.
3. Once I did that, the grounding screw stopped the ball assembly from twisting, preventing the set screw from fitting. I had to screw the ground wire in from inside of the rod, so the screwhead would not interfere with the rod-ball set screw.
What should have been a 45 minute install turned into a 2 hour install for the 2 fans I purchased.
The fans themselves were great.

Worked with the fan that I purchased, exactly what I needed.

I needed a 3" so I could not install it. A 12" was the shortest in store, having to return this.

Works great on my outdoor Hampton Bay fan requiring a 1" and a smidge outside diameter. Be sure to put the treaded end of the rod towards the ceiling.
