The Hunter 18 in. Extension downrod in new bronze is designed to complement Hunter fans and installs to most fans with 3/4 in. downrods. It is durably made from steel piping to provide stability and features pre-drilled holes to facilitate proper electrical grounding. It is ideally used to position ceiling-fan blades 8 to 9 ft. Above the floor in rooms with 10 ft. Ceilings.

What size downrod do you need for a 52" fan placed on a vaulted ceiling. I believe the ceiling at the peak of the vault is about 15 feet.

Hello Harley, There is no guarantee it will be compatible with the Hampton Bay fan as Hunter down rods are only tested for Hunter fans.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The tapped holes for the ground strap & set screw... The tapped holes for the ground strap & set screw were smaller than those in the standard down rod that came with our new fan from Home Depot. I had to find smaller screws to use this down rod. I was not pleased.

The one thing I did find that I wasn't expecting was the ground screw hole and the fastening screw hole were not pre-threaded. I can understand this because the thread sizes may vary from fan to fan. In closing, this Downrod fit the purpose for my vaulted ceiling installation.

This product would have probably been fine it I knew it was only for a Hunter fan. However, since it was sold by Home Depot as a seemingly generic piece, I purchased it for a Hampton Bay fan and it didn't fit, so I had to return the fan and the rod and get my electrician to come out yet again to install the new fan.
