Trying to find the replacement reciever locally with out having to go thru Hunter. Is there a combo pack thru home depot that sells the reciever, or the reciever / remote combo?

Answer:
When replacing a receiver it is best to know the model# for your fan to make sure that you are purchasing the correct part. If your fan originally operated by pull chains you are able to purchase any of the universal kits through a local retailer.

It is pretty old, I have had it for at least 10 years and have never changed the battery. When I push the low button I hear it click but the fan does not move. It works fine on medium and high and the light works like it is supposed to. Any ideas?

Do I have to reset the code in the fan when replacing the wall unit 27186?

Original wall control is 27186 model. General info talks about coordinating codes between receiver and transmitter. If I have to do that it seems to required substantial disassembly and reassembly of the fan itself. Is that necessary? If so, how extensive of a job is this? Thanks.

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by love, love, love it I bought two of these with two ceiling fans and had an electrician install. they are wonderful! you don't have to go around pulling chains, it's just like having a lightswitch on the wall for your fan. The top button is the lightswitch for the light, then the fan's 'off' button, and the bottom three are the buttons for low-medium-high fan. the only trouble was that guests (who are used to pull chains) sometimes get confused. But I love them! one odd thing i noticed is that when the electricity goes out (or you turn off the circuit breaker for whatever reason), when the elecricity comes back on the light turns on (so don't be scared if you come home and the light's on!) just sold my house and am buying a new one - again will purchase for my ceiling fans. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LOVED IT I have had this device for about 3 years now and it has worked like a champ until my husband decided to help me. The ceiling fan that I have this device for some reason had come loose and needed to be re-adjusted (simple fix right?). Needless to say he managed to short out the sensor and so now it is no longer working. I can not stress how much or how easy this switch is easy to use or install. Good luck to everyone in the future and it is WELL WORTH the money you spend on it. Also, look at the warranty that goes with this product. August 8, 2010
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by remote interference I saw this and thought it would be a good way to control my fan and light from the light switch. I have reconfigured the switches three times and it still has a mind of it's own. The wall switch is near the front of the house, so when my neighbor uses his remote to get into his car, my fan light comes on or the fan speed changes. I called the manufacterer and they do not have a "preferred' setting. I am going to try the Lutron version to see if it works better. April 2, 2010
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great fix to a pesky problem. If you have older electric or an older fan/light combo that you have to always pull the cord for fan speed or the light on /off, this product is great. If you want to have seperate switches for the fan and light without buyining a new costly fan/light combo with a remote this is the ticket. We have had two for many years and they are great. Getting another one now for my Grandmother. She can't reach to pull the strings anymore, so this is great. August 29, 2010
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product, Easy to use and install. Had one for 5 years then the receiver died. Not sure what killed it, maybe a power spike from a power outage. Just finished installing another. Only design change I would like to see is to have the transitter run off of the 115V instead of the 12V battery and better marking for the on/off position on the Power Switch at the botton of , Other then that, if's a great product. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Did not work on my Hunter fan This Hunter 'universal' remote is not universal even among Hunter ceiling fans. I found out from the Hunter company that it was incompatbile with my Hunter ceiling fan and I had to purchase model specific control receiver. I recommend checking with Hunter before purchasing. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Practical and attractive Easy to use and looks great on the wall. Had electrician hook it up for me. Buttons are easy to push and not difficult to change settings on the fan or the light. Hardest part was getting it out of the clamshell package. May 8, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by EXCELLENT FAN CONTROL FAN REMOTE CONTROL IS VERY EASY TO USE ONCE INSTALLED. SENSOR UNIT IS INSTALLED IN CEILING MOUNTED FAN AND CONTROL CODE MUST BE SET TO CORRESPOND TO CONTROL CODE IN REMOTE CONTROL. THE REMOTE CONTROL CAN EITHER BE WALL MOUNTED ( PREVENTS LOSING REMOTE) OR LEFT ON A TABLE LIKE A TV REMOTE. OPERATION IS EASY, THE LARGE ROUND BUTTON AT THE TOP CONTROLS THE LIGHT. PRESS IT ONCE TO TURN ON OR OFF. HOLD THE BUTTON TO DIM THE LIGHT AS DESIRED. THE NEXT FLAT BUTTON TURNS THE FAN OFF. THE NEXT 3 BUTTONS TURN THE FAN ON TO THE DESIRED SPEED FROM: LOW (TOP BUTTON (NARROWEST)), TO MEDIUM (MIDDLE BUTTON(SLIGHTLY WODER)) TO HIGH SPEED (BOTTOM BUTTON(WIDEST)). AT THE BOTTOM THERE IS A LEVER TO TURN THE LIGHT/FAN OFF IN CASE OF BATTERY FAILURE. IMPORTANT NOTE: THE REMOTE REQUIRES A 12 VOLT ROUND BATTERY (NOT INCLUDED). BATTERY LIFE IS APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS, DEPENDING UPON USAGE. IMPORTANT NOTE: IF INSTALLING MORE THAN ONE REMOTE CONTROL IN AN OFFICE/HOME, MAKE SURE TO SET A DIFFERENT CONTROL CODE FOR EACH REMOTE CONTROL & SENSOR UNIT COMBINATION. OTHERWISE ONE REMOTE CONTROL WILL OPERATE MORE THAN ONE FAN SIMULTANEOUSLY. April 11, 2007
