Rated 5 out of 5Â by FanHunter These are the best made fans in the world.Original Hunter' are Energy Star rated before that was known.
Iv'e owned several of these Hunter Original Series Fans. They used to be called their 100 year fans because if You oiled the fan once a year, to protect the fan,it could be given to your Grandchildren. They're heavy due to cast iron motor construction,so they need ceiling support directly to the ceiling wood framing of the building. Can You believe these fans were Energy Star rated before that was known? This is an example of Made in USA costs more but well worth it. (Even if made in China now, the original specifications are intact) There are more choices in the Original Series than brown or black motors. Try on brass plated or different finishes. These are an investment for life, even if You're in your 20's age group!Never leave these when moving!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by DJC617 I do not expect this fan will need a replacement.
Expensive fan, but is well made with a great mounting system. Easy to hang in a house with modern construction methods (i.e., able to lag bolt into joist); might be more challenging in older, pre-1960 house.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by GBR1 Best fan ever!
In our previous home we had the same fans for 34 years
without a problem - it was a no brainer to get them again.
We removed perfectly good fans and replaced them with the originals. I am surprised that Home Depot doesn't keep them in stock, we had to special order them, and then special order the 12" extensions from a fan company.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Steve Product is durable and quiet.
This is the fourth Classic Original purchased for use in our homes. Two of the first ones have been used for 14 years, without any maintenance. They run quiet, more than other brands or models.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by spike Powerful, quiet fan
I replaced an old ceiling fan with this hunter classic fan. This fan is very high quality. It's high speed is one of the fastest and the unit is very quiet. I leave it going 24/7 on medium speed and it makes a big difference in the air quality of the entire living, dining area where I placed it. When I installed the canopy which is the part nearest the ceiling I ended up using a little black rubberized electrical tape under the canopy and a little plain black vinyl electrical tape where the other rubberized tape stopped and screwed the canopy partially shut over the vinyl tape and pressed it into the rubberized tape and finished tightening. This eliminated a motor noise when I operated the fan. It is now totally quiet. Be sure the canopy is about 1/8" from the ceiling so it doesn't touch when the fan is on.Also be sure to place a towel over the motor when installing the canopy so if you drop a screw it doesn't get into the motor. Just a hint.
