i bought 3 of these 2 years ago,
last week my bedroom switch broke, the stem that holds the "knob" on broke off,
i had to use a plastic knife to turn the light on/off until i bought a different brand
now 3 weeks later my kids bedroom switch broke the same way..
i replaced this with a lutron Skylark 1.5 Amp Single-Pole 3-Speed Combination Fan and Light Control
Model # S2-LFSQH-WH
my electrician friend says "hunter makes fans, lutron makes switches"

I've replaced this fan control switch 3 times. Its really not designed well. The little plastic knobs broke and fell off on some earlier units I had. Then you had to carefully slide the little sharp plastic post that the knobs were clipped to. Updated models had the little plast knob and post all as one piece, but even then the slide piece just broke off totally and then I had no way to adjust my fan. I was hoping Home Depot would have different makes and models of these types of switches (light and fan) but they don't. So I just went on Amazon and found a different style that has 2 big knobs that seem to be much more durable and not so fragile.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by George GOOD PRODUCT, NEEDS LIGHT TOUCH
The knobs only break if you are heavy handed with them, they only need a LIGHT touch to move them up and down. Most people do not realize that they have a HEAVY HAND and the same ones probably have to replace other items in their homes due to heavy handedness. We have them in a 365 room hotel, the only time we have to replace them is when the guests have a heavy hand using them, most of the switches are EIGHT years old. If you take care of things, they will last. You can buy replacement knobs from Hunter fan company, model # and check with parts or service

installed Hunter Prestige series fan and this switch, fan made a humming noise, called support, was that a mistake, waited a long time only to get someone reading from a card with a hugh attitude. Emailed tech support, they told me cannot use Hunter switch with Hunter Fan, I kid you not. First and last Hunter anything for me .

Sliders work relatively smoothly. They are also spaced just far enough apart that they don't interfere with each other. No problem with LED lightbulbs yet either.

I had these installed in four rooms less than one year ago, replaced one and now need to replace a second one for the same reason. Little plastic switch is weak and breaks under normal use. Not enough surface area to be able to glue it back together. Looking for a better alternative for replacement. Don't buy these switches.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by John Don't buy this switch
The switch broke off after less than one year. There's a plastic connection, so there's no repairing it. Other switches have a metal protrusion, so if the knob falls off you can just stick it back on. Hunter usually has good products, but this is definitely an exception. You will regret this purchase if you make it.
