Answer:
Hi Elliesdad! You can use both switches if where you have the dual-slide control, you have 2 power wires - one for the fan and one for the light. If you leave the power off from the simple "on" and "off switch", you will not be able to control the fan from the dual-slide control. *Unless the "on" and "off" switch is wired to the light side of the slider switch

Answer:
If the switch can dim the light then most dimmers will work, as long as the LED is a DIMMABLE LED. Do not use fluorescent dimmer switches on LEDS.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Swing arm lamps The swing arm lamps was very easy to install and they give the room a very elegant look. And the swing arms are very convenient. February 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by All FAn 3 Speed Fan/Light control Nice product. Easy to install and saves on controls from the motor unit. March 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Work as expected I have three of these installed in my house. Two with regular incandescent bulbs (1 bedroom, 1 kitchen) and one with LED bulbs (bedroom). All were installed more than a year ago and haven't had any issues. Yes they are plastic, most light switches are. I'm not certain why others are having issues with these while I am not. However, none of these are in constant use on the fan side, typically we set the fan and leave it, so not a lot of on and off. The light side on all three see regular use, without issue. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by replacement knobs We have four of these swiches in our house and the knobs broke off within the first mouth. Now we are selling our house five years later and after searching everwhere i was about to replace the switchs. So i emailed hunter and i hope this helps other people. We do have the replacement knobs available at this time. They are $3 and the shipping is free if you place the order on our website. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not worth it Had This in my Bedroom. Broke within 2 weeks. They are Junk. June 21, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by poor switch i bought 3 of these 2 years ago, last week my bedroom switch broke, the stem that holds the "knob" on broke off, i had to use a plastic knife to turn the light on/off until i bought a different brand now 3 weeks later my kids bedroom switch broke the same way.. i replaced this with a lutron Skylark 1.5 Amp Single-Pole 3-Speed Combination Fan and Light Control Model # S2-LFSQH-WH my electrician friend says "hunter makes fans, lutron makes switches" April 7, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not durable AT ALL I've replaced this fan control switch 3 times. Its really not designed well. The little plastic knobs broke and fell off on some earlier units I had. Then you had to carefully slide the little sharp plastic post that the knobs were clipped to. Updated models had the little plast knob and post all as one piece, but even then the slide piece just broke off totally and then I had no way to adjust my fan. I was hoping Home Depot would have different makes and models of these types of switches (light and fan) but they don't. So I just went on Amazon and found a different style that has 2 big knobs that seem to be much more durable and not so fragile. September 29, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Piece of Junk I wish I had read these reviews before I purchased this for my new house a few years ago. Every other review complains about the knobs that attach to the sliding levers breaking off and the same thing happened to mine. I contacted Hunter Fan and was informed that, not only was the product no longer under warranty (only 1-year), but they also don't sell replacement knobs. You would think they would have a warehouse full of them after seeing how many of them break from these reviews. I was then given a sales pitch on a new fan control. It looks like I will have to buy a new control, but it definitely won't be from Hunter. Poorly made product with customer service to match. November 2, 2015
