Bring a tall ladder and magnifying glass! Fan will not hang in socket while connecting wiring and will fall out with slightest movement!. Be sure to put set screw into ceiling bracket/cover assembly as fast as possible to be sure it doesn't get dropped. Set screws are made for folks with nimble hands and keen eyesight; neither of which I have. Very frustrating installation. When you unpack box, be sure to test chains on light kit, as one of mine was jammed up. This resulted in return SNAFU at store. Also, check glass lightshade for breakage (mine was broken). Regardless, the set screws for ceiling mount and for light kit should be enlarged and easier to install, considering how important they are. Other than that, it's a typical fan installation. Bought 4 for rehab, 2.5 are up, awaiting light kit fix. Pretty end result.

So nice looking, makes a huge difference in the look of our guest room, loved it so much, bought another!
That being said, this is in a guest room so it doesn't get much use. But when it is, it is quiet and I like the lower light it provides. My son installed it in about 2 hours. Would highly recommend.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Featherlegs Be Careful. Fan is not "Whisper Quiet" and May Keep You Awake at Night
I have owned Hunter ceiling fans for 30 years and have previously found them to be good quiet fans.. The current crop of Hunter Banyan fans expose degraded quality control by Hunter using cheap fan motors from China that whine or otherwise make annoying sounds especially in the dead of night when installed in the bed room. These fans may be appropriate for installation in other rooms where fan motor noise is not important. However, for light sleepers, these fans are not appropriate in the bed room.
I would recommend that Home Depot perform quantitative testing of all fans they offer for sale and rate them on several performance metrics so consumers can develop an idea of the strengths and weaknesses of the products before they buy and spend time installing. Unfortunately, i wasted 3 hrs of installation time just to find out how bad this fan was. I spent another 4 hrs taking down, returning this fan, and installing a higher quality fan purchased elsewhere. I had to learn the hard way. Hope you don't..

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gram217 So happy with these fans!
I replaced 12 year old fans with these fans, and I couldn't be happier. The others did not distribute the air very well even on the highest speed. These fans have great air distribution, and the lighting is also very good.

Construction crew chose a fan that was far too small and which a two year old blowing on me would cool me down more. I had them replace it with this fan. It's elegantly beautiful and the wind is delightful. I need a light weight sheet and blanket to cover my legs and the reat of me is very comfortable during the night. I'm a happy woman.

Straight forward directions and installation. This fan is ultra-quiet and the blades are well balanced. I like the fact that a blade balance kit is included if needed. It is also "snow-white" as advertised.
The light is bright enough and the globe is standard opaque. Ordered the Builder's special white which had to return as it was more ivory than white. (The trend in stores now is more dark fans on display, so had to order online.). I have been installing Hunter fans for over 35 years and have never been disappointed. Have also had some Casablance fans (now part of Hunter) that were also high quality but a bit pricey but worth the money.
