Really nice, modern looking fan with reversible blades - the darker/black side is very sharp! very quiet running motor. Installed in my home office and it looks great!

It was too install and is extremely quiet. The only issue I have is that there is hardly a difference between the medium speed and slow speed. There's such a huge difference from medium to high though, that you wouldn't even need 3 speeds.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Armstrong This fan is scary.
7/3/2014 We bought 4 of these Hunter Channing fans and replaced all of our older fans in one day. After running the Channing fans for an hour, we smelled a burning chemical smell or like oil on the motor was burning off - something like that. We found the light bulbs, the bulb socket, the light globes, were all very hot, which was making the fan housing and metal housing and metal on the fan blades very hot. All 4 fans' light fixtures were hot to the degree we could not touch them.
We had an electrician check our installation, which was down correctly. We tried an LED candelabra bulb which did not get hot at all, however, at $10 each, this would be an additional $160.
We called Hunter 7/6/2015. They said the light fixture is not made for LED lights so we shouldn't use those. Our options are to have them send us replacements of the same light fixtures - no option to send us a different light fixture. Or we could return the fans to Home Depot, which we are going to do as soon as we take them all down.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Minxie First two speeds are useless, works on high ONLY
Please read the reviews and toggle the reviews from the lowest first, my mistake, although the fan looks very nice in appearance as another reviewer says the first two speeds are useless, to get any use of this fan you have to run on high. In addition, just a note that the amount of light it gives off (new bronze, tea stained shades) is very minimal. I am not sure why Hunter has not pulled this product or sell it for $50 as that is all it is worth. As I just installed 6/8/2016, now that I have re-read the reviews i am just praying that the fan does not die on me as other reviewers noted, I guess i will go back to Hampton or Style with Margie.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HappyCustomer Inexpensive Fan, Great Value
After our fan went out, I spent weeks trying to find one that was both functional and pretty. We had a globe type lighting on our old fan and I wasn't a fan of the individual bulbs like this at first. After reading the reviews, and deciding this was the most I would spend on a fan when I couldn't find anything under $200 that I really liked, I very reluctantly bought it.
However, I am so thankful I went with this one. After putting it up, it looks 100x better in my home than it did in the store. It gives off a lot of light (using the bulbs included), so much so I turned it off at night because the room was so bright. We have a vaulted ceiling, and I worried the fan would shake but it doesn't. The chains hardly move with the fan going on high. Would definitely recommend this fan

Very attractive fan. It was easy to assemble and install. Only wish it had more than 3 speeds. Mid speed is a little slow. But pleased with purchase.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by GalInNYC OK, but a little disappointing for price
I was disappointed by this fan. It was to replace a Hampton Bay fan I bought 5 years ago for half the price that wasn't installed properly; the Hampton Bay fan exceeded this fan in every way.
The lights are all-on/all-off. You can't have a choice of 2, the other 2, then all 4.
The light bulbs are a special size, so you can't replace them with LED or CFLs. This makes the entire unit very hot when the lights are on (even though they don't give off a lot of light.)
Aesthetically, it is OK I like the wood grain on the fan. The body is a bit grim, but if you pair it with a pretty medallion, it is actually quite pretty. I didn't like the light shades at all--very depressing when turned off (but fortunately kept my pretty Hampton Bay ones). This was the most expensive of the fans I was considering but I"m disappointed by what I got.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Darren easy to install; no issues
had no issues with installation; everything worked the first attempt. Fan runs quiet. Only thing was that one of the bulbs was broken so I had to call Hunter to get a replacement (which was quick and easy)
