What's the best way to change these light bulbs? Does the globe have to be removed?

Answer:
You don't have to remove it completely. Just unscrew the cap at the bottom/center of the globe, lower it - holding in one hand - and screw in new bulb(s) with the other. A step ladder and an assistant are helpful. :-)

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 66 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Big fan of this fan Last time I bought a ceiling fan, I went with a relatively expensive Minka Aire and was pretty underwhelmed. This time around, I was looking for that sweet spot between value and quality. I think this fan lands smack dab in the middle of it. I bought two for my great room and coupled them with a wall mounted and wireless remote from Hampton Bay. They look fine and are effective at moving air and work great with the remotes. The only problem is that occasionally the light dimmers will get out of sync and the light on one fan will get brighter and the other will get dimmer when I hit the remote button but usually if I point the remote correctly, both fans will turn on, change speeds, and brighten and dim in unison. Overall, I've been very happy with the fans. It's been awhile since I installed them but I seem to recall that fitting the remote receiver into fan housing was a bit of a challenge so keep that in mind when you buy the remote. August 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great fan, great service from Home Depot This fan was ordered online. It met all my expectations for quality and speed of shipment from the Home Depot warehouse. I recommend purchasing fans from Home Depot as the selection is so much greater than in the store. July 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by WORST PURCHASE EVER 3 DAYS AFTER INSTALLATION[BY PRO.] THE FAN STARTED EMITING A HIGH PITCH SOUND. THE FAN NEEDS TO BE REPACED PLUS THE COST OF INSTALLATION. October 4, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Beware pull switch failure The light pull switch died after light use (18 months after installation) in a guestroom. The light and switch are integrated so the entire light assembly must be replaced when the switch fails. Hunter advised that the switch should not have failed so soon, but that its warranty for parts other than the fan motor extends only 12 months. The light output was lower than expected, but the fan operates well. September 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what we wanted - ceiling fan Just what we wanted to cool down our kitchen! Looks great. Super quiet! We did not install it ourselves. It has a remote but we end up just turning it on and off at the switch unless we want to change the speed on the fan or use the light. The size of the blades is good for our space. The extension for a high ceiling is just right. Arrived on time in two shipments - one for the fan; the other for whatever the extension is called between the ceiling and fan. Hint: If you get a remote, go to an office or hardware store and pick up a magnetic container to put on the refrigerator to contain it. August 21, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT NO AIR FLOW. Complicated (unnessesarily) installation. Did not allow for the use of my metal electrical joist mounted box. BUT MOST ANNOYING is after a half day spent installing, the thing looks very bulky (motor) its huge looking so you would think it will kick but with the air flow...NOT SO, the low speed is a laugh, barely turns, medium I guess is just to keep the dust from settling, and high speed is so slow you can actually watch/focus on the blades as they rotate, every other fan I've ever had moved a lot of air on high, this one set on high is like any other cheap fan when set on low!!!! UGH!!!! Hey Hunter what do I do now?? I threw out the box.... Is there a hidden switch some where that will speed this thing up. And yes, it is set on counterclockwise downward flow. August 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice fans The fans are quiet and cool the room nicely. The 12 inch downrods are perfect for the cathedral ceiling. The reviews about the lights being dim with regular bulbs are true. I switched out the regular bulbs for LED bulbs and they are very bright. I did not do the installation. September 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fan review I love the look and the quiet operation. The lights are not very bright. I would have preferred something brighter August 9, 2016
