Can this fan be hung as a ceiling hugger?

Asked by: Kassie
The 'stock' down rod is only about 6" long, which puts the fan blades apprx. 10-12" below the mount.

Are special downrods required for wet locations?

Asked by: jfitz
We installed ours without downrods on a screened porch. No problems or issues. Hurricane Mathew did not bother it at all !

Since it is a pull chain can you add a wall control?

We have not had the drywall done yet, working with electrician so now is the time.
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, our fan is installed with a 3-way wall control to control fan speed and on/off. When paired with a wall control, just set the fan on high with the pull chain to achieve your 3 speeds. The fan must be reversed with the slider switch on the motor itself.

Caicos 52 in. New Bronze Wet Rated Ceiling Fan is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 78.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from they're great! Bought 3 for new covered patio. only a month old, and of course, haven't had lot of opportunity to use them, but they look and work great so far. We didn't install them, so I don't have any comment on the ease of installation. I like the detail around the blade edge. We didn't want a fan that was a "centerpiece", but the detail makes it more special without being obtrusive.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dissapointed I bought this fan over a year and a half ago and it was a perfect fan for my outside porch. The looks were great and it was quiet and well balanced. Recently, I purchased an exact replacement because the blades could not be cleaned as advertised and the blades were starting to sag. Replacement blades were $80 and a new fan was about $120.Then I started a discussion with Hunter service. The phone route got me a "so sorry" response and "there is nothing we can do". The email response was better: Send us photos. I did and they made me an offer to sell me a set of blades for $40 including free shipping. I took the deal and returned the fan to HD unopened

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice looking fan, Took lots of time to put fan together, install. It has been a good ten years from my last fan install but back then I installed lots of fans and I had one rule... Only buy Hunter as the install was always easiest. After installing this fan I no longer will follow my own rule. I understand Hunter has fans marketed as faster 5-min fans, this is not one of those fans. The 1st thing I noticed when purchasing this fan is how small the box is, that should have told me that this fan required lots of assembly. As example, all my fans of the past the metal arms were factory attached to the fan blade so all was required was attaching the blades to the motor with 3 screws via the metal arm. This fan required me to insert three rubber grommets in each of the five blades then attach each fan blade to the metal arm and then attach the metal arm to the motor and that was after I was required to remove the 10 screws holding shipping blocks on the motor. I found attaching the blades as per instruction after the fan was hung was unnerving as my decking on my porch will eat a screw if dropped. When attaching the blades after hanging it is almost impossible not to drop a screw so be aware of this if you have a floor ( decking with space between the boards) that will eat a dropped screw like my floor does. I only assume this fan is in so many parts to save container space / packaging / labor and attempt to make the shipping box as small as possible. I was left feeling my time was of no value with the design of this fan as it took a long time to put this fan together. The fan looks good, absolutely silent and balanced well, The fan does include a balancing kit so no excuse for a shaking fan I guess; I was not required to use the balancing kit as my fan does not shake out of the box but I have if if ever a problem. The included chain is what I consider short so if you have a higher than normal ceiling you may need more chain and possibly a longer pipe all available at Home Depot. The air flow could be a bit better but I know this as I compared specs before my purchases but will work for my needs. My #1 deciding factor was the look and I am happy with that! I also based my buying decision on the fact this fan is rated for "WET" locations, NOTE, some fans are rated for damp locations not wet. The Hunter quality of the past and the price point. I am in a costal environment so I needed a dark fan as to not show any rust that may develop. After all was said and done I can say I am happy with my fan as the look is fantastic but make sure you have some time to install this fan as it is not a quick hang.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cottage White is biege, not off white Wanted a wet-rated fan for outdoor porch. The picture shows a very white colored fan although description calls it "cottage white". Fan is actually biege, and doesn't match with the white wet-rated Mariner II light kit I ordered to go with it.. Haven't installed it yet, but have had great experience with Hunter fans as to quality in the past. Not sure how to handle the color mismatch, as the only other wet-rated light kit through home depot is either white or bronze.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from What? It is my own fault but I did not notice that there was only one blade side produced for use. Usually there are two color shades from which to choose. I very much like the style of the body of the fan.
