What can be done to solve the poor lighting situation?

Asked by: Linx
The remote control button is actually also a dimmer. If you hold down the light button, it cycles down, then up to change the brightness dramatically. After lots of investigation into the issue, their tech support told me about the dimmer feature, which is not mentioned in the manual.

Can this fan be hard wired so we don't need to use remote?

Asked by: cindi
I was able to wire the fan directly without the remote. Works perfectly. Keep in mind that you do lose the ability to change the fan speed except to use the pull chain (no big deal for me).

Energy Star certified?

Labelled in the photo and specs as energy star certified, but out of curiosity with the complaints of low air movement and incandescent candelabra bulbs, I checked the certification standards for ceiling fans and this doesn't appear to meet the stated minimum 5,000 CFM of air movement on high speed required for energy star fans - can you confirm that this in fact energy star certified?
Asked by: a1i50n
This is Energy Star certified.

Customer Reviews

Camille 52 in. Brushed Chrome Indoor Ceiling Fan is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointed I ordered this from Home Depot online. Just installed it and the blades do not want to turn on. I removed the remote and straight wired it and the blades will turn on, but only one speed and I have to push them to get them moving. Very noise when fan is on; sounds like it needs oiling. I called Hunter and they said the fan must be run with the remote; makes no sense remotes are optional and this one did not work anyway. Technician said he thought there was a bad capcitor, but recommended I return the product to Home Depot and buy something else. It is beautiful to look at, but is defective. I am very disappointed. What a waist of time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful looking, very dim lighting First, i have seen other reviews about installing without the remote. I have 2 switches (1-fan, 1-light) so i didn't want to use the remote. I was able to wire the fan directly without the remote. Works perfectly. Keep in mind that you do lose the ability to change the fan speed except to use the pull chain (no big deal for me). The lights are really really dim. I cannot express enough how poor the lighting is. I've changes the bulbs to higher lumens and still way way too dim to use for anything like reading. I love the look and quality of this fan and would buy it again if the light issue was resolved.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice looking, but doesn't move much air! This fan is very nice looking and asthetically fit our room perfectly. It was rather easy to install, except for one step that was rather time consuming. My main problem with this fan is that is does not move much air. It's high speed is equivalent to the low speed of most other fans. It produces a light breeze. I called Hunter and they said this is more of a decorative fan because of its low CFM value. They recommend a CFM of at least 6000 for a high speed fan. I will be returning the fan for this reason, however it looks very nice. I have read many comments about the light being very dim. However most people did not read the instruction manual which states that you must hold down the light button on the remote to adjust the brightness of the light! This light can be very bright.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very nice....changed the entire look of our room This fan was exactly what we wanted for our room. Nice quality. Very modern. My husband and I couldn't wait to install it. I gave it a poor rating on ease of installation because the instruction sheet that came in the packaging omitted a few steps that we felt were needed. This caused a wasted hour or so trying to figure out what went where. After all was said and done we did finally complete the install and it really does look amazing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this fan The only thing bad I can say about it is that it makes no sound! LOL. My old made sound spin had to get use to it being so quiet to sleep. It is the best fan ever and really looks good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and easy install Husband easily installed this. Very attractive design. One thing to note, you can adjust the brightness of the light by holding down the light button on the remote.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Top quality look...bear to install Okay, I really love the look of this fan. It matches our decor perfectly. The shipping was great, it arrived ahead of schedule. And most importantly it looks great and works well. Why 3 stars?? Well, installation was a bear. Now I am not a novice having installed a number of Hunter fans in the past...in fact one in every one of our 5 bedrooms. This one however was not that easy. The screws did not fit into the wholes as they should and in the case of the blades never fully went in. This prolonged the installation process far beyond what would be considered normal. One additional note, I never did install the remote control receiver because the receiver box is really big and did not fit inside the outlet box. If your install is replacing an existing fixture you may encounter the same issue. Kind of a bummer but none of my other fans have it so not a biggie for me. There was a point during the install where I was tempted to return it but I eventually made it work. All said and done it is an advanced DIY project that having to do it all over I would have paid to get installed. Bottom-line is that I got it all together and it works just great!
