Hello,
You can turn the top light on and have the bottom light off. For the lights to dim, you will need to buy an accessory control and dimmable light bulbs. Have a great day!

Domino 52 in. Antique Pewter Ceiling Fan is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good fan for the price. This fan is a very good value for this price-point. Having the option for using up-lighting, down-lighting, or both is extremely unique for a fan under $200. It runs quietly (virtually silent) and looks very nice in our master bedroom. This fan gets extra value points as it DOES include a simple, two function remote control despite the details saying that it does not. Because the remote was not listed, I added the Hunter Simpleconnect which enables smartphone control over the unit, and it works very well, allowing dimming and fan speed controls that the basic remote doesn't. Unfortunately, the only way to switch between up/down lighting is via the pull-chain. My only complaints with this product would be: 1. That you can see the plastic, pivot 'ball' at the top of the down-rod, and 2. The gaps between the body/blades is ~1/4", which seems excessive. But overall, a very nice-looking and quiet fan at a solid price. Easy installation, as it took me about an hour (4 hours total since I had to install and a wire a brand new fan-box). Also, this fan DOES NOT have the option to flush mount. Even with a different bracket than the one in the box, in order to change the up-light bulbs, it could not be done if flush mounted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent ceiling fan This Hunter fan has the same quality and (mostly) ease of installation as other Hunter fans I have recently installed. There is no remote, but I find those really are not used that much. I liked the two separate light assemblies, so that I can have just the top section on for watching movies in low light. The only slight negative is the bottom section light cover was hard to get in place and secured with just two hands. It is a bit on the heavy side, and it has to be perfectly in place before there will be enough of the rod coming through the hole to screw on the last piece that holds it in place. All in all, I am really happy with the purchase and fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality fan with great looks It is hard to find a ceiling fan I like - they are either too fussy looking or too ultramodern. This one is the perfect mix. We had excellent Hunter fans before and I hope this one lasts just as well. One quibble is that the light bulbs are an odd candelabra size and we haven't yet found CF bulbs that will fit. My husband installed himself - no difficulties there.
