This fan does have pull chains. It has one for the light fixture and a longer one for the variable speeds of the fan. It does not come with a remote control so this must be purchased separately.

I don't know about the remote but from what I have seen a remote should work if it is designed for a Hunter. I have done it a long time ago but the problem then was it was hard to get the control unit and wires to fit inside the ceiling cover. It can be done but you have to be patient and work at it.

Thanks for your question! Yes, this fan has pull chains for light & fan operation. It does not come with a remote; but we do make compatible Hunter univeral remotes. The best remotes are model numbers: 99119, 99121, 99122, & 99123. All of these remotes have three speed fan control, light dimming, & a wall cradle.

Answer:
The switch to turn the blades from summer-winter is located between the light fixture and the fan blades. You can't see it without looking down into the fixture but it's obvious and not a hidden feature.

Yes, you can switch the direction the blades spin. But note, the blades barely turn at all. The air flow is very low.

It is above the light bowl just below the blades. It isn't real obvious as the light kit and blades are fairly close together.

Remote Optional? Does that mean that the standard box has the usual pull cords?

The pictures shown don't show the standard pull cords. It's nice that a remote is optional but I don't want one and I have wall switches for the separate light and fan functions.

Yes, this item comes with the two pull cords which control the variable speeds on the fan and the off/on of the light. You can - and should (in my opinion) get the optional remote (sold separately) that will allow you to control the fan speeds and the light. I've attached a photo of the usual pull cords - which you can easily remove once you have a remote.

Answer:
There is plenty of wire to use a longer down rod. The maximum degree of angle for the in box mounting hardware is 34 degrees. Any more than that the instructions state that you will need to buy an Angled Mounting Kit, sold separately. This is probably standard for all Hunter fans that can be angle mounted. You will need to make sure of the blade clearances to the ceiling to get the most out of the fan.

Yes. The wires are a decent length. You may have to splice extra wires together since I'm not sure just how long you're talking about.

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 52 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ceiling fan This fan goes great in our family room. Easy to install and it is very quiet while producing ample airflow. Great look for a good cost. August 23, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very poor design I installed the first fan two night ago. Within an hour of installation the fan began to smell hot. I turned it off and felt the down rod and it was very hot along with the top portion of the fan. I removed the cap hiding the wires from the ceiling and the wires were cool. So it is not a connection issue.I took the fan down and exchanged it for another one. Same model. Installed this one last night and the same thing is happening. I have never had a fan smell hot. The temperature of the fan housing is 112 degrees. This one is going back as well. The idea of a fan is to cool the room. Not provide excessive heat. BTW. I checked all my other fans and they heated between 85 and 95 degrees. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this Fan We had our handyman install this fan at our home.... We love it.... the large size of the blades move lots of air and we couldn't be happier. August 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hunter Quality? This was for a replacement fan. I paid more than I expected for supposed Hunter quality and was disappointed that, although all blades had same weight markings, the fan really wobbled on even med. speed. It took 2 weights on different blades to balance it. It spins silently luckily. I hope Hunter is not foregoing quality for cost. I am not sure I'd recommend this model at this price. On another note, why can't manufacturers design lights that don't look like they came out of the 1860's ? July 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Light Kit pull string quit working twice in 18 months Purchased in December 2014 and professionally installed early 2015. After about a month, the pull for the lights quit working. Contacted Hunter, they were friendly and mailed a piece to replace on the unit. Professional replaced the piece which was time consuming. Now, it has happened again. No confidence in this product and concerned it will be a recurring issue. Did not expect to have to purchase another fan after 18 months. July 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Fan....Quiet. I want to purchase another one of these fans as the airflow is great, and the look of the fan is really quite nice. July 20, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Ceiling Fan First time installing a ceiling fan,so I would say it was fairly easy. Really happy with air circulation and how quiet the motor is. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great fan for the price I had this fan installed by my handyman in my living room. I love the design and it is super quiet! I bought a universal remote to go with it because it doesn't come with one. Also, I took out the bulbs that came with it and put in bulbs that were a little brighter. June 24, 2016
