Answer:
Hello David,
The Highbury model fan uses three, 14 watt, standard medium based CFL bulbs. You can use different bulbs with this fan as long as the wattage of the bulb does not exceed the actual wattage listed on the sticker of the light kit. However, if you want to add a dimming capability, you will need a Hunter accessory remote/wall control with a dimming feature. Have a great day!

Hello David, I’m Chris from the Home Depot’s how-to Community. Thank you for your question.
Yes, this fan has medium base light sockets, which is what we typically call standard or regular size lights.
I hope this helps,
Chris.

Customer Reviews

Highbury 52 in. Indoor Brushed Nickel Ceiling Fan is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 244.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beyond disappointed Bought this fan less than 2 years ago after I bought my first house. Fan looked great, quiet, etc. About 4 months ago it started to get sluggish when I turned the fan on so I cleaned the fan off, made sure all blades were functional and had nothing stuck or hanging them up. A few days later, the entire fan quit working. The light works fine, but the fan won't work. You can hear the motor groaning when the switch is turned on. I contacted Hunter and was told that it is a receiver or wiring harness problem. Did troubleshooting for both items and none of their recommended solutions have helped. Even though they offer a lifetime warranty, you have to provide proof of purchase. Home Depot cannot locate my receipt, so now I'm stuck with a ridiculously expensive fan that doesn't work. DO NOT BUY THIS FAN. Now I have to throw away this fan and go buy something cheap. Clearly Hunter isn't worth the money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't ignore negative reviews I thought the negative reviews were the exception. I was wrong. The ceiling fan and light worked great for 4 months. Now, the light kit will dim and then the entire fan with shut off. The light kit no longer works. The ceiling fan works for a couple of hours before needing to be reset. I thought I would ignore the negative reviews because Hunter fans used to mean quality and long lasting. That is no longer the case. The cheaper ceiling fans I purchased at the same time are still running with no issues. I can't believe I have to replace a $130 ceiling fan after 4 months!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good looking ceiling fan The instructions were easy to follow except for one step-attaching the fan blade arms. They were actually easy to attach, but there were no instructions to tell you that you needed to align the small window cut out in the bottom of the light housing so that you could run your screw driver through it to get to the screws. The manufacturer needs to make this step clear in a side note. I am pleased with the quality and price, and the lights are VERY bright, which I like.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This (and all Hunter and Hampton Bay) ceiling fans are garbage. Buying either brand of these fans... This (and all Hunter and Hampton Bay) ceiling fans are garbage. Buying either brand of these fans is like playing russian roulette. One out of every three you buy will be a lemon guaranteed. After about a month, you can expect the lights to start flickering, or to stop lighting at all, or the remote will go bad, or the whole dang thing will stop switching on all together. In my particular case, this fan worked perfectly for about 3 weeks. Now when I turn the switch on it flickers once for a split second and then cuts off. Now it's a paper weight. As a matter of fact, if you buy 4 or more and you only have one bad, you are actually doing REALLY WELL. The quality control on these fans is non existent. If the price matched the quality they would be selling for $50 and NOT $150. I CONSISTENTLY have problems with both Hunter and Hampton Bay products (is there really a difference?). It does not matter which I buy, they all suck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent product I had a professional install the two fans. They run extremely quiet, as compared to the two 29 year old fans that they replaced. They look neat & stylish. Love the cradle for the remote...very convenient. The fans are easy to operate and look real attractive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty fan We bought the fan to replace a 20 year old white and brass fan. We watched the You Tube video Hunter has made since we are not real handy and we got the fan installed pretty easily. Our previous fan had a wall switch for the light and a separate one for the fan. After a week of trying to use the remote for the light, we rewired the light to work on the wall ( took the red wire from the ceiling to the blue wire from the fan and removed the blue wire from the remote receiver). I wish the fan put out more wind when on high is my only complaint. We use clear 60 w bulbs so the lights are dimable. We did have a broken globe that Home Depot replaced for us.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT PURCHASE I purchased 3 of these fans a little over a year ago and 2 have stopped working. I thought no big deal since it has a lifetime warranty, but I was wrong. They said it is a "limited" lifetime warranty, which translated to not a warranty at all. Of course they don't tell you that over the phone either. They had me take my fan apart and trouble shoot all this stuff then I emailed them a receipt as if they were sending the part and when I called today they tell me, " oh there is no warranty, sorry about that". So I gave this fan a low quality rating because if this fan cost a $1 and doesnt work then clearly it is not a good value.
