I thought the negative reviews were the exception. I was wrong. The ceiling fan and light worked great for 4 months. Now, the light kit will dim and then the entire fan with shut off. The light kit no longer works. The ceiling fan works for a couple of hours before needing to be reset. I thought I would ignore the negative reviews because Hunter fans used to mean quality and long lasting. That is no longer the case. The cheaper ceiling fans I purchased at the same time are still running with no issues. I can't believe I have to replace a $130 ceiling fan after 4 months!

We bought the fan to replace a 20 year old white and brass fan. We watched the You Tube video Hunter has made since we are not real handy and we got the fan installed pretty easily. Our previous fan had a wall switch for the light and a separate one for the fan. After a week of trying to use the remote for the light, we rewired the light to work on the wall ( took the red wire from the ceiling to the blue wire from the fan and removed the blue wire from the remote receiver). I wish the fan put out more wind when on high is my only complaint. We use clear 60 w bulbs so the lights are dimable. We did have a broken globe that Home Depot replaced for us.

Bought this fan less than 2 years ago after I bought my first house. Fan looked great, quiet, etc. About 4 months ago it started to get sluggish when I turned the fan on so I cleaned the fan off, made sure all blades were functional and had nothing stuck or hanging them up. A few days later, the entire fan quit working. The light works fine, but the fan won't work. You can hear the motor groaning when the switch is turned on. I contacted Hunter and was told that it is a receiver or wiring harness problem. Did troubleshooting for both items and none of their recommended solutions have helped. Even though they offer a lifetime warranty, you have to provide proof of purchase. Home Depot cannot locate my receipt, so now I'm stuck with a ridiculously expensive fan that doesn't work. DO NOT BUY THIS FAN. Now I have to throw away this fan and go buy something cheap. Clearly Hunter isn't worth the money.

I replaced a 20 year fan that still worked, but that I felt needed to be updated. My old fan had a lot of gold look metal which was fine 20 years ago, but did not now fit in with the rest of the remodeling I had done in the living room. I love the look of this new fan. The dark brown unit looks sharp with the paint color of the room and it is similar to the light fixture in the dining room. This fan does not look cheap. I especially like that this fan has a remote for turning the light and fan on and off. No more standing on tip toes to reach for the chain to turn the light on before I sit down to read. I do have one minor complaint and it is about the remote. The remote is a cheap plastic looking thing. Hunter made such a nice looking fan and they should have designed a remote that was in keeping with the nice looking fan they designed. However, the remote does work so I can still recommend this product highly. I did not install it, so I did not rate the ease of installation. I will say that Hunter provided a book of detailed instructions for installation so I imagine that anyone who has installed other things will have no problem with this product. As mentioned by other reviewers, the lights do flash on and off when you turn the fan on from the wall switch, but I do not believe that is an issue. So in closing, I am pleased with my purchase and I believe you will be pleased if you purchase this fan too.

We loved how this fan looks in our living room. First installation worked for a short while and then the fan stopped working. We replaced it in store with NO issues (thank you to the store staff). This new fan (same model) has been running for a couple of weeks now with no issues.
Fan is easy to install, especially if you're replacing an older one like we did. It is quiet and easy to operate with the remote.

I just purchased this fan yesterday, to have it professionally installed in my living room. The fan seemed to be working okay initially, however anytime the switch was flipped for the lights (when the light cord was in the off state) the lights would come on momentarily. Additionally, the lights gave off a funny glow. The electrician believes that the light kits needs to be replaced. I've tried running the fan with the lights off and it gives off a funny smell after running a while.... This should not happen for a new fan!

I was told that the light was dimable by store employee. I had my old fan removed and the new one installed and changed the light bulbs to LED bulbs and the lights will not dim. Apparently it doesn't dim as I was told by the store employee who worked in the fan section. I am very unhappy.
