I have purchased several different types of the Hunter MP Rotator over a few months in order to replace heads at our new house. We used to have well irrigation, but since our moves that is no longer available and we have to water with city water. I mainly choose the MP Rotator for the water savings and thus money savings. But after installing a few MP Rotator heads I noticed a few more benefits. There is very little loss due to spray. These heads pretty much lay down what they consume without big clouds of misted water vapor. The adjustment is very simple and required very little work. Check the Hunter website and make sure to get the ones you need for your application. Just selecting the correct head is half the work. Don't order a MP3000 when a MP1000 will do the trick. I have 2 MP1000 heads replace 4 conventional sprinkler heads. Now here's where it gets interesting. Most companies out there claim savings. Whether it be electrical or insulation R value or efficiency or water usage. Hunter claims 30% less usage. They are being too careful. I checked the usage of all my zones (4 total). A 6 head zone with 3 conventional heads and 3 MP Rotators uses 9.5 GPM. A 5 head zone using all MP Rotator heads used 5 GPM while watering a larger surface area. A zone using 4 conventional heads uses 6.8 GPM but after replacing just ONE head with a MP1000 Rotator head the usage went down to 4.8 GPM. My complete system has 21 heads over 4 zones and currently consumes 25.8 GPM. Out of the 21 heads I have 7 heads which are not MP Rotators just yet, so after replacing the remaining ones with MP Rotators I will probably be down to about 21 GPM. Not bad knowing I starter out at over 40 GPM on an all conventional sprinkler head system. Not too mention that with the high efficiency and water distribution I will be able to use less sprinkler heads than I have now. Even if I'd still be on well water for irrigation I would utilize these heads for their efficiency, coverage and saturation. The water goes on the lawn and not on my cars or house. And, added benefit, they just look way cool!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works very well Item was an easy install on my existing sprinklers. These heads provide better overall coverage with less water. You will need to run the sprinklers longer but the water gets soaked into the ground. Beware = these heads DO NOT turn all the way off with the center adjustment screw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I had a sprinkler system installed at my 1920's house in Denver two summers ago now...b/c the old pipes provide such low water pressure, the landscapers swapped out the heads to this model, which provides several small, rotating streams. They work great and look super cool. Anyone who sees the system thinks it's more expensive than it is and yet it conserves water at the same time. Each summer, one of the heads seems to get a little dirty and has difficulty popping up, plus sprays water all over the place. I just removed the head itself and the pop up unit, cleaned them out for a minute under the kitchen faucet and put it back together. Super easy. Would buy again - highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great one year later Redid backyard last summer. Loved fact I could space them 17' apart. Installed 14 of the "black" versions. After 1 year, still work great! Lawn is green. Never needed cleaning, no readjusting, no jams. Just work. Very precise control of distance and side-to-side pattern. Patio and planters adjacent to lawn stay remarkably dry. One note: Because they emit very controlled streams rather than a spray, coverage per minute is much lower. In my case I measured 1/3rd inch per hour, so adjust watering times accordingly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Design Did not like these heads. First, the adjustment screw on top is so small you need a watchmakers screw driver and a magnifying glass to adjust the distance screw. Then the screw is so tight, you can hardly move it with the small screwdriver. Second, the adjustment pattern didn't make sense to me - no matter what I did the pattern was all over the place. There does not seem to be any end spot on the adjustment so I guess you need to spend a lot of time (trial and error) wondering where the end point (turn around point) is. I asked the home depot rep how to adjust the pattern and after fiddling with it he couldn't figure it out either. After much frustration I returned all these heads.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great new design These are great heads to use if you plan on changing out all your heads. Do not mix with in a zone with spray heads because these take longer to apply the same amount of water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well This product was recommended by several pros I know; the government/water district here even gave a $3 rebate for each sprinkler installed. Just recommend you put out like 5 tuna cans to measure the water output. These sprinklers put out water slowly which is great for my steep slanted yard. Measure so you know the right amount to use on your grass (which can vary due to water pressure, size of pipe, etc). I just water at different times with intervals in between to prevent runoff. These seem to work ok in the wind due to the fingerlike stream.
