Hi jmjt - Any Hunter light kits will fit this fan. However, if you are using this fan outdoor you will need to make sure to get a damp or wet-rated light kit. This light kit, the Marine II, is a great option. It is wet-rated and fully enclosed (no bugs can get in!). It also comes with a gasket since it needs to fit flush to the fan. Another great option if you're using this fan in a covered outdoor space is the 99158. It has a leaf design on the bowl that goes well with the Bayview. (No gasket needed since it doesn't sit completely flush to the fan.) Hope this helps! Read Less

Answer:
I had actually ordered light kit model 28318 but it was working. I call Hunter Fan support 888-830-1326 and talked to Laurie. She advised it needed a gasket kit in order for that model to work. Laurie arranged to send me the part free of charge. Call took about two minutes to resolve the issue.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 16 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice ceiling fan light! We purchased the tidewater fan for our patio and then decided to add a light for the nights we are out on the patio later in the evening. It's not super bright but it provides enough light when we are outside after dark and/or company is over. I didn't want a real bright light that would draw in bugs but it is still sufficient lighting. We have a 14 x 24 foot patio but usually only gather on the lighted side after dark. The installation was quick and the price was good too. June 24, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by If you want a glass globe, look elsewhere I purchased this Hunter Marine II outdoor ceiling fan light fixture in white (#28438) because in the "answered questions section" of the reviews on Feb 29, 2016, a Hunter company representative wrote that the globe to cover the bulbs is glass. It is NOT glass, it is frosted plastic. Since I don't know if the plastic globe is going to discolor, crack and chip over time, I've not installed it yet and I'm debating on whether to return it and continue my search. I should have known. Another customer responded to "the plastic or glass question" also on Feb 29, 2016, and that reviewer said it was plastic. The one star rating is because what was described by the Hunter company is not what was delivered to me. Maybe there are some glass and some plastic globes going out with this kit. I wanted glass and relied on information supplied from the company, so it failed to meet my expectations. July 19, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by NOT a perfect fit Purchased 3 of these to install on 3 Hunter Mariner outdoor fans, which they are supposed to fit. However, upon installation I found that there is unsufficent clearance between the top mounting part of the light and the fan pull switch, which causes the installed light to be lopsided. None of the gaskets/spacers solved this issue, You would think Hunter would include the appropriate parts, or better yet design a light that correctly fits the fan. Found a couple of other reviews that identified this problem. June 7, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by POOR FIT ON MATCHING FAN AND LIGHT ASSEMBLEY Doesn't fit the matching fan! Numerous calls(6^) to Hunter and no real solution. After two weeks of dealing with hunter to resolve the problem. I Made a spacer that would solve the problem and mounted the light assembly to the fan. It works, why hunter sells a light to match a fan that doesn't mount up correctly is bad news. They finally shipped two gaskets as a spacer, wrong color. The fan and light assembly are white and they sent BLACK gaskets as a spacer. July 21, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by works fine, but doesn't really fit the Mariner light it's paired with This "Marine II" model light is clearly intended to go with the "Mariner" fan unit, but the reality doesn't match the sell job. The fan unit is high-quality, metal, a good paint job. The light housing is plastic. It does match color of the fan unit, though I suspect the plastic will discolor differently with age than the metal on the fan. Worse is that the light kit does not really fit to the Mariner fan unit because it hits the cylinder (which is actually the nut that holds the pull-chain device in place) where the pull-chain exits the fan. I could only make it work by using a Dremel tool to cut down the pull-chain's cylinder/nut. It would take very little to get this right, but they got it wrong. December 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Marine II ceiling fan light kit This light kit were easy to install and look great December 30, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great outdoor light matches my hunter fan looks great but wish it was part of fan when I bought it. Really looks nice and provides light where it's needed December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Not compatible with my two existing fans I gave it a poor rating only because I did not install the light kit to my new Mariner fan. I have had 3 Mariners on my front porch for 11 years. I had to replace the middle fan and the lies light kit would have been very obviously different from the other 2 existing fans. However, I did like the enclosed feature of the light kit (dirt dappers would not be able to build in it). If I have to replace the other 2 fans, I would definitely get the Mariner fan & this light kit. July 16, 2015
