How and where is the oil applied?

Hello Hunter Fans! I have two beautiful old Model 22272, and a dirty house. Both fans have ground to a halt, died a slow death, due to lack of maintenance. I think I can resurrect with a good clean and oil, but is there a grease fitting somewhere? If not, how or where do I apply the oil? Thanks in advance!

Can this oil be used on motor ? My Harborbreeze fan makes a noise Would not want to replace motor

Asked by: Mel
My guess is, no. Again my guess is that your fan came from the factory permanently lubricated. I suggest you check the written material that came with your fan or, if you no longer have it, ask at a HD store. If it is the motor that is making the noise and is not the result of something loose, e.g., a loose blade, I would replace the fan. Replacing just the motor may cost you as much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OIL FOR HUNTER ORIGINAL CEILING FANS Some of our Hunter fans are forty years old and still running like new. Sufficient oil is critical. One needs to be careful when dispensing the oil. Too much at a time will result in an overflow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked perfectly The hunter fan oil was easy to install with minimum mess and waste. Was enough to fill a completely empty fan with a bit to spare.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oil- level maintenance keeps Hunter Original Fan operating like new- completely silent The Hunter Original model ceiling fan is so "original" that it requires periodic maintenance-- "add oil" to the reservoir that lubricates the bearings. This needs to be done every 5 years or so. The product includes a pipe cleaner that you shape to make a "dipstick" to check the existing oil level, and a tube of oil with a resealable spout that fits into the oil orifice on the fan body. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. I was able to add the proper amount of oil a small quantity at a time and to check it repeatedly with the pipe cleaner until oil showed at the end- indicating that the proper amount of oil was in the reservoir. Done! My fan runs perfectly and silently.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hunter Fan Oil The old Hunter fans are wonderful, but the oil for them is hard to find. I wish you would sell it in the store like you used so it would be easier to get.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just a light Non Detergent Oil I have had a Hunter Original since 1984 and they will last forever if kept properly oiled. Oiling is only needed a couple of times a decade so it is not much of a chore. However, finding the Hunter Oil is. Having to order it and pay shipping on it is too much. Next time I will just use a proper weight non-detergent oil instead of having to order the Hunter oil since it is not carried in any stores.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The oil was as advertised I have 3 Hunter Original ceiling fans. If you could fine 10 weight oil at a hardware store or a big box store it probably less expensive. I ordered 3 tubes of the oil & used it all. The biggest complaint I have is it took over a week to get the stuff.
