I would also like to know if this can be installed without the light kit.

Can this fan be installed without the light kit? It did not specify whether or not it could. I didn't see a cap listed in the spec.
Asked by: Anabelle
No. There is no provision to opt out of installing the light kit.

Can you use a hunter 48" down rod for installation/extension?

Asked by: mma1
No, this item requires a standard flush mount installation.

Last time I checked, the official language in America was English. Shouldn't the Installation Guide and Instruction Manual be available in English instead of Spanish? No comprende.
Asked by: highprairiegirl
Hello. We are sorry about the confusion! We are currently looking into this and will be making the necessary changes as soon as possible. Thank you.

Customer Reviews

Princeton 52 in. Antique Pewter Indoor Ceiling Fan is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from PRINCETON CEILING FAN - DETAILED REVIEW This fan comes with a three light fixture using three 60 watt candelabra base incandescent bulbs with a white glass shade. The blades are not reversible. The plywood blades come in a nice rosewood finish with a raised panel look. Light output is adequate and having three bulbs (as opposed to two) gives good light distribution around the room. The fan does have pull chains for the light and fan which often are not shown in pictures of the fan. The fan is not difficult to assemble or install and all the hardware needed is supplied, even the wire nuts for the electrical connections. You do need an 4" electrical box rated for supporting a ceiling fan. This is important since a standard electrical box is not strong enough to support a ceiling fan. I would suggest having a helper when installing the fan. The fan is mounted to your 4 “ electrical box in the ceiling by attaching a shallow steel circular mounting plate. The fan will then attach to this mounting plate. There are two short, sturdy hooks on one side of the mounting plate corresponding to two small slots in the canopy of the fan. Once you are ready to actually hang your fan, the canopy slips over these hooks which helps support the fan while final wiring connections are being made between the fan and the electrical box. The canopy is then raised up to the mounting plate and attached with screws. The fan actually hangs from and is supported by this decorative ceiling canopy. There is a plastic trim ring that snaps over the canopy that hides the mounting screws. Remember if you need to take the fan down in the future that once you unscrew the canopy the fan will need to be supported. Wiring the fan is easy. The illustrated instructions show exactly where each wire coming from the fan connects to house wiring in the 4" ceiling electrical box. If your fan is on a wall switch from an existing ceiling light fixture the fan is replacing turning power off to the fan at the wall switch doesn’t mess anything up. For instance, if you had the fan on low and the light on full brightness when you turn off the wall switch, when you turn it back on, the fan is still set to low and the light on bright. If you want to use the remote to control the fan and light, just leave the light switch on so there is always power to the fan. The description for this Princeton fan states that this fan can be mounted three ways which they describe as “Installer's choice mounting system allows for standard, flush and angled mounting”. I do not believe this example of the Princeton can be flush mounted. There is an adapter supplied so you can eliminate the short down rod. In that case the motor housing would connect directly to the ceiling canopy but this would not allow for the motor housing to fit flush with the ceiling although the fan would be about three inches closer to the ceiling. Quite helpful if clearance is an issue. Note, there is another example of the Princeton fan (which is much less expensive, I might add) that does look like a true flush mount fan but I can not personally confirm that. However that fan is not available in the two finishes this more expensive example of the Princeton comes in. If you want a remote. This fan does not come with a built in remote. You can purchase the Hunter ceiling fan remote Model # 99119 (or other universal fan remote, I would assume). There is enough space inside the canopy for the remote receiver unit however there is no provision for attaching it. I simply let mine lay inside the canopy when I raised it up and attached it to the mounting bracket. It fits and works fine. You could use a zip tie and attach the receiver to the bottom side of the fan mounting plate if you wish. The Hunter remote not only controls the three fan speeds it also acts as a dimmer for the lights. A nice feature. Press and hold the light button on the remote and the light will gradually cycle from bright to dim and then dim to bright. Just release the button on the remote when you reach the level of light you want. The remote also has a dedicated fan off button so you don’t have to cycle through three fan settings trying to find off. As for wiring. The fan comes with clear illustrated instructions of where to connect each wire coming from the fan to the household wiring in the ceiling electrical box. If you add the remote, simply follow the illustrated wiring instructions provided with the remote instead of the wiring instructions provided with the fan. The remote it is easy to sync with the fan. Simply turn the power on to the fan and press the two buttons specified in the instructions on the remote at the same time. That is all there is to it. Just a note. The first time you turn the power on to the newly installed fan if the fan doesn’t run at the speed you selected from the remote just pull the fan pull chain until the fan speed matches the speed selected from the remote. At first I though I got a defective fan or remote because the fan spun very slowly when the highest speed button was selected from the remote. Pulling the chain that controls the fan got things in sync. I’m not sure the instructions mentioned you may need to do this. This should only be necessary the first time you use the fan with the new remote. The fan body and blades are nicely finished and the fan seems to be of good overall quality. There were no mis-packaged or missing items. All the hardware was there. It looks good and ran smoothly and quietly right out of the box. I would not hesitate to recommend this fan to a friend. I gave the fan an overall five star rating. Four stars for value as the fan is pretty pricey but I wanted this particular finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! This was exactly what I was looking for. Very quiet even at the highest speed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice fan We were a bit disappointed with this fan. Luckily we had installed two other Hunter fans prior, so we knew some steps that were not shown in the instructions. Installation was not as easy as other models and the end result is a slight bit wobbly on the high speed. No noise, just a slight bit of movement. The fan blades feel rather light and did not want to attach to the arms evenly. For the extra price, we expected more. We will stick with the other model we purchased for future installations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful fan Though I've installed ceiling fans before alone, this one definitely required 2 people. That said, it's a solid fan which looks like it is qualified to be a real work-horse. And, it's beautiful. Really attractive and it's quality is obvious in every way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and Quiet Ceiling Fan We love our new ceiling fans. They look great and are very attractive in the kitchen and family room, creates a nice breeze, are very quiet, and were an excellent buy. It was much easier for my husband to have the fans installed by a certified electrician. He did an excellent job and was very neat for the entire job.
