Thank you for your interest in a Hunter product. Any of our universal remotes will be compatible with mod#21587 as long as it does not indicate on the packaging for "Hunter Original". Hi Lisa, You can purchase any Hunter model remote for this fan. The Hunter model # 27187 is a remote that is designed to control both fan and light. This style has a plate that goes over the space where a light switch was and a remote that sits in a cradle on this plate. Thanks for the inquiry regarding model 21587. The unit was not designed with a remote however it is compatible to add a Hunter’s Universal Control to the unit. An accessory down rod may also be added to the unit if a longer length desired.
