Answer:
Yes. I purchased a Hunter remote which works great but I had to call first for better installation instructions as the wire colors did not match up.

Answer:
Yes, I installed my fan flush (no extension rods). It hangs about 1.5 feet from the ceiling. Plenty of clearance, even for a tall person.

This model offers three different mounting options. Flush, standard or angled so it would be a great choice for a low ceiling room.
Hope that helps and thank you for your question.

I have this fan. The fan works great but the lights do not come on now. we have tried replacing the bulbs. Their are 2 light switches in the home for the lights on the fan. both worked but now neither does which leads me to believe there is an issue within the fan.

Thanks for the inquiry regarding model 21315. The unit may be flush mounted by using the low profile washer provided with the unit. The unit also comes with the capability of removing the light fixture. Thanks for choosing Hunter.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 30 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by My fascinating review Seems like a very well made product. I wanted the flush mount option and it still projects down a bit lower than I had expected. Also the incandescent light bulbs are an anachronism and LED replacements will be pricey. Other than that, no complaints noted by this extinguished reviewer! March 25, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love It! This is a great fan. The light fixture is beautiful. I got it on sale, but would've paid full price. It's that nice! April 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by nice quite fan but very low lighting if your going to use the light time consuming to put together, but most ceiling fans are. March 24, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 3 Ways to Install? Just purchased fan and opened up the package to inspect product before installing. I have an angled ceiling and needed a fan that would accommodate. This fan does, however, you'll need to purchase an extension down rod if you intend to install on an angle ceiling. The box promotes 3 ways to install, but hardware only includes the 3" standard mount down rod. So don't leave the store without your extension down rod like I did. Now, it's back up to the store. I would think that with a fan you pay $180 for, it would come with everything you needed for normal applications. February 21, 2010
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by sicily 52 roman love this fan it really moves a lot of air around it replaces the same size fan but the motor is way better December 20, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Returning it The fan is gorgeous however I bought it not just for the fan but for the light too. The lens is tinted so when you turn on the light it's extremely muted. The blades are damaged and although Hunter was willing to send me new blades, for the money I paid I really would like to have a functional light. The installation was typical but if you purchase a remote, the instructions for the installation of the receiver are not clear at all and you'll have to call and speak with someone in their technical department for clearer instruction. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Fan is wonderful - lighting is poor I really like the appearance and the operation of the fan and the installation was average for ceiling fans even though some of the screws were of subpar quality. One broke while it was being driven into the ceiling beam. The main issue with this fan is the light kit. The fan was placed in a bedroom with dark walls and the light from the fan is more like a night light than the previous fan. We added a few lamps to the room to correct this but I was extremely disappointed in the light fixture. April 10, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Beware of Disco Light Effect! After returning the Stratford because of loud motor noise, we decided to pay more for the Sicily one. Yes, it was a lot more quiet, however it did not push much air except for right underneathe the unit. Worst of all was the light! Because of the opened globe, the light becomes an 'uplight'... however, because it is housed under the blades, the light seeps through the space in between the blades and lights the ceiling. and when the fan blades moves, gives the room a disco light effect that is too dizzying for words. Be prepared to spend some time with this installation, and if you don't mind the ceiling light show, my one piece of advice is to put tape over the housing holes during installation... we dropped a screw inside and had to gring the whole thing down. I think it is time to pay more and get a Casablanca fan! March 31, 2012
