Does this have a "ball" so it can swing. My contractor suggested this type because of slanted ceiling.

Answer:
Yes to both. The extension is needed if the slope of the roof is high. Other wise the blades will hit the ceiling

Answer:
You never want your ceiling fan to "swing" You need an extension rod so the fan hangs down away from the ceiling. Extension rods are sold separately unless you purchase a fan that is already designed that way.

Yes it comes with a "ball" and instructions on how to install on a slanted ceiling.
I don't think an extension would be needed unless the installation location was very steep.

This fan does not have a "ball." The blades are already about 6" - 8"
from the ceiling, so the need for an extension should be judged accordingly.

Thanks for the inquiry regarding hunters model 21362. This model was designed with a hanger ball assembly as an option to mount the fan. Model 21362 may also be flush mounted using the low profile washer as a second option of mounting. Thanks for choosing Hunter.

I do not like the light kit that comes with this (I want a globe). What other kit would be compatible (I bought a 'universal' kit that isn't)

Answer:
Not all light kits can be swapped out. Usually fans sold with out lights have a option to choose an add on. Most fans that come with a light are not changeable. Best to go to the manufacturer website. You can modify some universals to fit but you have to wire it yourself the plugs will not match.

Stonington 46 in. Brushed Nickel Ceiling Fan is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 79.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Fan Needed a new fan for an older failing one in spare bedroom that gets little use. Bought a Hampton Bay based on price alone, took it home and put it up. Took it down 10 minutes later because the motor sounded like an electric drill. No way to sleep in a room with that fan in it. Took it back and bought this fan. The quality difference in packaging, materials, instructions, hardware were all quite dramatic. The Hunter fan is up and the only way you would know it was on would be to look up. The hunter was $40 more than the HB fan, but after assembling both within one day, it was well worth it. I will never buy anything but a Hunter fan again, lesson learned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible fan for the price!!! We are very sure about ceiling fans - they MUST be Hunter brand - we have tried many, but always go back to Hunter. This fan is incredibly nice looking, with the light for such a great price! It's really pretty as well, and looks much more high end when hanging up for sure! ***Note:::MAKE SURE THAT YOU BUY A SPECIAL FAN DIMMER IF YOU ARE GOIGN TO USE A WALL DIMMER - REGULAR DIMMERS WILL CAUSE THE MOTOR TO MAKE A HORRIBLE NOISE!!! GET YOUR DIMMER IN THE FAN DEPARTMENT - MAKE SURE THAT IT SAYS "FAN" DIMMER!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome fan. First time replacing a fan. I had an old ceiling fan in my bedroom that was noisy, so I decided to look for a new one. I was surprised to find that some are under $100, as I thought that would be a reasonable amount of money to spend. This fan came in at $84 which I think is a great value. When I removed my old fan and began assembling and installing my new one, I was surprised at how easily it went together. My goal was to have the project finished in under an hour, and sure enough, I'm sitting back enjoying it and drinking a beer in just under an hour. This fan is SILENT!!! all I hear is the wind from it (on high) on medium and slow I hear nothing at all. Even on high it is much quieter than the wind from my last fan (I'm assuming the blades are more aerodynamic.. pushing wind without making excess turbulence.) I was concerned with the color of it at first (my room is blue and white), but it looks great. It matches the brown of my sheets and dresser, and the brushed nickel adds a bit of shine. Definitely happy, Definitely recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressed. When we ordered this fan online it was with the understanding that "when" it didn't live up to expectations we would simply return it to the local Home Depot and kiss the shipping charges goodbye. The fan arrived yesterday and we installed it last night. We cannot believe the quality for this price. It is as well made and solid as Hunter fans costing more than twice the price. It moves much more air than the 52" fans and the unit does not wobble at all even on the highest speed. THIS IS NOT A CHEAP LOOKING NICKLE FINISH! It is solid metal and finished beautifully. Highly recommended. Also, I was looking for an all white model to hide against the the ceiling. My husband mentioned giving this a try and it looks so classy and expensive. Kudos to both Hunter and Home Depot for this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value, stylish fan, very quiet. Replaced a cheap fan that looked like it was going to fly off the ceiling when it was on. This fan installed fairly easy. Wiring instructions had options including two switch like my install so it was cake to wire it up with one wall switch turning on the light and another turning on the fan. Blades are two sided: black on one, cherry on the other. Fan comes with rubber bumpers that rest between the fan and the ceiling. Fan is very solid, secure, and quiet! Very happy with fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful good quality ceiling fan I normally never buy items online, I need to see an item in person before buying. I looked all over for a fan for my son's room and this was the one, he didn't see any others that he liked. I was also sticking to my budget of under $100. The fan was installed today and I (we) love it! This is a solid beautiful good quality fan and soo worth the the price and the shipping fees which I cant stand spending $ on anything shipped! I think I might purchase another one for the guest room I am fixing up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the fan - but you must know something The fan is both beautiful and quiet. If you leave the white rubber bands on the glass shades and use a 60 watt incandescent (which I have) the bands will smell like burnt rubber as they don't stand up to the heat. Just remove them when assembling and you won't have any issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product - Easy install Pricing was excellent for this fan as it happened to be on sale at time of purchase. Out of the box the product looked a good quality product, instructions were easy to follow and installation was easy also, I did it on my own, however, the instructions recommend 2 people which is good advice for supporting the weight. I also purchased a seperate Hampton Bay remote control which wired in easily, if you do this, the blue wire on the remote device goes to the back/white wire on the fan. Even at full speed the motor is really quiet, there was no balancing required as there is almost no decernable vibration of the unit at any speed, even though I added a 12" vertical extension. However, if any balancing were required, a kit is incuded in standard install kit. Overall an excellent fan, well worth the money.
